Eugene Anthony Tutera (2/10/1948 – 3/8/2024)

Born February 10, 1948, in McKeesport, PA to the late Anthony and Maria (Vivirito) Tutera. Known to everyone as Gene, he was a man deeply devoted to his family. Married to Gloria for 53 years. Proud Father of Michael (Janelle) Tutera and Ryan (Carey) Tutera. He sacrificed his time to put others first. Gene was never quick to temper and always found joy in life.

Gene graduated from Point Park University with a BA in Business. He began his career in the wholesale business in the late 1960s, and in the early 1980s, formed Tempo Eyewear, a wholesale eyewear distributor. He did so with his family, employing his aunt (Julia) and his beloved brother (David). It was with their assistance, especially David’s, the business lasted as long as it has. He found a way to survive and thrive through many business cycles. He would often remark that he was “still here, baby”. It is of note that he passed on that gift of positivity to his sons.

Gene dedicated his life to his wife, children and grandchildren. Gene was never without his wife and sacrificed for her, as she did for him. He looked forward to being home in her company. He deeply cared for his sons, making it a point to meaningfully converse every day. It was a tradition to gather at his home where the door was always open. He would often say “my home is always open to you”. His biggest joy was his grandsons, John and David. He loved Thursdays, a weekly gathering at his house with the kids. It became his favorite day of the week and it was because of them. Gene enjoyed traveling to Florida with his family where many memories were made at the condo.

In addition to his immediate family, he was close to his beloved sister, Cindy (Joe Johnston), with whom he was particularly close. He trusted and confided with her. A relationship that could never be broken. Gene also loved and cared for his brother, David (Yvonne). The two shared a remarkably close relationship. Likewise, a bond that cannot be broken.

Gene is survived by a niece (Amber), nephew (Marshal), in-laws (Jay Gould, and Lois and Glenn Clutter), and many cousins that he cared for. Gene will be missed by many, many friends. His family will never forget the thoughtfulness and care expressed by his family and friends who travelled near and far to spend time with him in his last days. Thank you, Dad, we love you and will see you soon.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., in St. Angela Merici Church, White Oak, of Mary Mother of God Parish. Arrangements entrusted to MALOY-SCHLEIFER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 915 KENNEDY AVE., DUQUESNE, 412-466-3300, WILLIAM B. SCHLEIFER, SUPERVISOR, WILLIAM BRIAN SCHLEIFER, FUNERAL DIRECTOR.

Aaron Nicolas Terdle, May 21, 1986 – February 23, 2024. It is with unimaginable sorrow that we relay the passing of our beloved son, Aaron.  He was taken from us in a tragic car accident in San Diego, CA. His sudden unexpected passing comes as a great shock to his family, friends, and the community.  After receiving a BA in Accounting and Business Administration from Thiel College in 2008, Aaron worked for the family business Terdle & Company, P.C. for the past 16 years as an Enrolled Agent. He had recently decided to change directions and pursue new personal goals. He was enrolled in the MBA program at AMU. Aaron had embraced fitness and contemplated joining the Marines to serve his country. Recently, Aaron had begun traveling the world and experiencing new cultures. He loved adventure and learning. Cooking, grilling, and entertaining were things that he enjoyed immensely. Aaron had an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor. He was generous and loyal to his friends and family. Golfing, gardening, swimming, snowboarding, and riding his motorcycle – all kept him busy in his spare time. Aaron was a huge animal lover and had two rescue dogs; Rogue and Ace, who joined him everywhere he went. He was a kind, gentle, loving man who treasured his family, his friends, and his clients. Aaron will be profoundly missed by his parents Mark A. and Debra Quindlen Terdle, his brother Ryan Terdle, his sister Ashley Terdle Giancola and her husband Josh, two nephews; Luca and Nico Giancola. His maternal grandparents A. Thomas and Elizabeth Quindlen and his paternal grandparents Patricia A. Terdle and the late Richard S. Terdle, as well as a large extended family, will miss him always. His family was extremely proud of the man that he had become. His memory will live on in our hearts forever. The family will hold a private memorial service. There will be no public visitation. Roberta (Bert) Lynn Benson, 66, of McKeesport, died peacefully at home on Friday, March 1, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family and her daughters at her side.  Roberta was born August 1, 1957, in McKeesport; she was the daughter of the late Ray and Dolores Jean (Hedley) Suarez and the wife of the late Randy Benson, the love of her life.  She has seen the world in ways not many people ever do.  Even on the gloomy days, her world was full of glitter, rainbows and love.  She saw the good in every person & the beauty in the most insignificant things.  She was thankful for every day she saw the sun shining and heard the birds chirping (or that damn dog, even if she would never admit it).  She never took a single moment for granted.
She found peace & serenity at Geneva on the Lake. She would spend hours looking for beach glass, surrounded by the water's calmness and feeling the sun's warmth.  She touched so many lives by sharing her love, always trying to make everyone's day a little brighter.  She touched many people's lives over the years, working in the Emergency Room at McKeesport Hospital, where she also met dear friends who became family.
