Sheldon S. Abramovitz, 78, of West Newton, passed away Friday, January 30, 2026 at home. He was born November 24, 1947 in Pittsburgh and was the son of the late David and Belle (Liss) Abramovitz. He was the husband of 54 years to the late Charlotte J. (Jones) Abramovitz, who passed away November 6, 2025. Sheldon grew up in Squirrel Hill and attended Taylor Allderdice High School and Point Park College. He spent his career in industrial supply sales, and later working for the Pittsburgh Transportation Group. He loved spending time with his family and friends, and was an avid sports fan, always rooting for his favorite Pittsburgh sports teams. He will be greatly missed.

William D. Bernhardy, 73, of Pleasant Hills, passed away on Friday, January 30, 2026. He was born December 7, 1952 and was the son of the late William H. and Doris (Edwards) Bernhardy. He was a 1970 graduate from Elizabeth Forward High School, received his Bachelor's in Education from California State University of Pennsylvania in 1974. He completed his Master's Degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2003. He was a teacher at Bidwell Training Center in Pittsburgh. He is survived by his brothers, Dennis (Jane) Bernhardy of The Poconos, and David (Nattie) Bernhardy of Highland, CA; sisters, Linda (Richard) Kerr of Slippery Rock and Kathleen Bernhardy of Boston; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Adele Bernhardy and sister, Doris Matthews. There is no visitation. Private committal services will be held at Mount Vernon Cemetery in the Garden Mausoleum. John J. Lukacena, 74, of North Huntingdon, passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2026 at home. He was born March 26, 1951 and was the son of the late Michael and Margaret (Kapinus) Lukacena. He was the loving husband of 44 years to Sherrie Jean (Woods) Lukacena. John was a passionate golfer, he was apart of the Men's league at Manor Valley Golf Course, he also enjoyed fly fishing, buying and selling on eBay. He grew up as a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Church in McKeesport and belonged with his wife at Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greenock.

Dorothy Jean Salopek, 82, of Elizabeth Township, passed away Monday, January 26, 2026. She was born March 12, 1943 in Snowshoe, PA and was the daughter of the late Herman John and Victoria Dorothy (Hopton) Goretzka. Dorothy was the wife of the late John J. Salopek, who was the White Oak Borough Chief of Police for 36 years, he passed away December 6, 1993. Dorothy worked numerous jobs throughout her lifetime, she had a prominent role as secretary and switchboard operator for Penn State McKeesport, now Penn State Greater Allegheny, where she was the first person you'd see if you needed anything. She also worked many years as a secretary and switchboard operator for Forbes Hospital, before finally being the secretary of her church, Peace Lutheran Church in Greenock. She was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church and loved her church family. She had a love of animals, especially her dogs, especially Lilly and the late Katie. She will be greatly missed.

Lillian Gwosden, 103, born September 24, 1922, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026 leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and strength. Lillian was born in Export, Pennsylvania, and raised in Braddock. The devoted daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Tomscanyi) Rezzarday. She was married for 72 years to her beloved husband, the late John “Boots” Gwosden. Together, they built a life rich in family, hard work, and shared memories that will be cherished for generations.
She was the deeply loved mother of Sandie McLaughlin and her husband, Dr. Frank McLaughlin, and the late Randy Gwosden and his wife, Rebecca Banyasz Gwosden. A proud and devoted grandmother to Kelly Headrick (Adam), Daniel McLaughlin (Amy), Kerry Pringle (Michael), Matthew Bacco (Ryan), Brianna Shanty (Matthew), and Brett Gwosden (Leeza). Lillian was the treasured great-grandmother, “Grammie,” to Bailey, Riley, Bryce, and Macie McLaughlin; Kylie and Kenzie Pringle; Carson Bacco; Nolan, Brooks, and Morgan Shanty; as well as Eli and Myles Gwosden. The sister of Captain Joseph Rezzarday and his late wife, Cecelia; her late sisters, Frances Henderson (Tom) and Irene Slahor (John); and aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Laura Grace Charlesworth, 58, of North Huntingdon, formerly of White Oak, passed away Sunday, January 25, 2026 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of James E. "Jim" Charlesworth, Sr. of North Huntingdon and the late Mary Anne Charlesworth. Laura graduated from Messiah College with her Masters Degree. She went on to work as a Mental Health Therapist for many agencies, most recently Auberle in McKeesport. She was a member of First Evangelical Free Church in McKeesport, where she volunteered with the children's ministries. She loved being with and working with children. Laura found great fulfillment working with her clients as a therapist. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family.

Gail "Cookie" Odorcich, a dedicated advocate for children and a beloved member of the McKeesport/Versailles community, passed away peacefully at home on January 20th, 2026. Cookie dedicated her career to ensuring that no child was left behind by life’s circumstances. As the Educational Coordinator for the Allegheny Homeless Children's Initiative, she was a fierce protector and mentor. Her work in homeless education has been recognized by GSA, Crisis Center North, Sojourner House, and the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy. In 2005, her tireless work was recognized by the Homeless Children's Education Fund (HCEF), an honor that reflected her deep-seated belief that every child deserves a path to success regardless of their housing status. Her passion for community service did not end there. She was a volunteer at Women’s Place, helping victims of domestic violence. She served as a chairperson for the PTA, a Girl Scout Troop Leader, a leader of the Versailles Baton and Drum Corp, and countless other organizations.

Randy Farrell Quiggle, 61, of Port Vue passed away Thursday, January 22, 2026. He was born in McKeesport on March 29, 1964 to the late Leonard Nelson Quiggle, and the late Dolores Jean (Elm) Quiggle-Hite. A devoted father, Randy raised three daughters and poured his love, wisdom, and steady presence into their lives, but his greatest joy was being a grandfather; he absolutely adored his grandchildren and treasured every moment spent with them. Not to mention his favorite girls, their dogs, Lola & Laydee. He loved fishing, quad riding, camping, and especially the family trips to Sunset Beach, NC - a place that held many wonderful anniversaries and cherished memories. He had a fascination with trains, and a natural curiosity that led him to tinker with just about anything he could get his hands on. Later in life, he discovered a passion for fish tanks, eventually breeding angelfish and becoming deeply immersed in the world of aquariums-a hobby that perfectly reflected his patience, creativity, and attention to detail. Those who knew Randy will remember his hands always busy, his heart always full, and his love for family, nature, and simple joys.

Bernice Nevitt passed away peacefully on December 15, 2025. She had celebrated her 100th birthday on September 23, 2025. She led a life full of family and friends who gave her much happiness. Bea was born in Glassport, PA to Wojciech and Helen Fien. She is predeceased by her loving husband, George Nevitt; her mother and father, Helen (Karnas) and Wojciech Fien; siblings Casimir, Helen, Anna, Laura, Mary Liliose, Mary Edith, Kay, John, Marie, Florence and Delores. Bea is survived by her daughters Bonnie Walker (James), Joyce Stephens (Russell Osborne), and Nancy Mols (Steven); grandchildren J. David Walker (Kristen), Julia Merritt (Robert), Jason Stephens (Elizabeth), George Stephens, Ryan Mols (Natalie) and Alison Fowler (Andrew); great- grandchildren Everett Walker, Brooks Walker, Jay Merritt, Finn Merritt, Wesley Merritt, Evelynn Stephens, Carter Fowler and Nora Fowler; along with many nieces, nephews and friends who will always remember her love and kindness. Bea lived most of her life in White Oak, though she and George also had a home in Palm Harbor, FL where they spent many winters, enjoying the warmth of the southern climate. While in Florida, they were active in the Polish American Pulaski Association, making new friends, and spending time on the dance floor, or playing cards. Jacquelyne Ellen Toal, 87, of McKeesport, passed away at home on Wednesday, January 14, 2026. She was born April 23, 1938 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late James Lynch and Ruth (Lovell) Wertz. She was the wife of the late Edward Toal who passed away in 1977. She attended St. Pius grade school in McKeesport and was a lifetime member of the church until its closing. She then graduated from McKeesport High School. Jackie attended Open Bible Church in McKeesport and Greenock United Methodist. You could always find her volunteering or participating in church activities and very active with Mon Yough activities for her youngest daughter. Jackie loved and respected the Lord, faithfully. She will be missed by her family tremendously.

Helen Elizabeth Allen, 104, of Redstone Highlands of Greensburg, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2026. Born in Versailles Township on February 9, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Bayne Allen and Emma C. Wunderly Allen, sister of the late Walter M. Allen, Chester T. Allen, Louise M. Allen, and Emily C. Saunders. She is survived by two nieces Rebecca Johnson (Eddie) and Pamela Saunders; great nephew Matthew Johnson (Laura); great niece Amy Wood (John) and great-great nieces Alex Johnson, Bri Johnson, and Rachel Elizabeth Wood. Also, Helen was loved and will be missed by the Nevin and Johnston Families. Helen graduated from McKeesport High School in 1938. After working at Union National Bank in McKeesport for four years, Helen was employed by, and retired from, the former Gulf Oil Corporation of Pittsburgh after 35 years of service. She was a member of Round Hill Presbyterian Church and the Morning Circle. A committal service will be held at Jefferson Memorial Park in the Office Chapel on Thursday, January 15 at 11 AM. Chris “Red” Evanov, 58, of Greenock, passed away Monday, January 12, 2026. He was born June 29, 1967 in Homestead to the late Albert A. and Violet Mae (Kubancsek) Evanov. Red devoted 35 years of his life to VISTA Metals, where he worked as a skilled machinist known for his strong work ethic and dedication. Outside of work, his true passion was the open road. Alongside his kids when they were growing up, Chris spent countless weekends creating memories and chasing adventures that never stopped. Later in life, he got a Harley - and now, with his wife Amy, the weekend trips to Rocky Gap became a special spot. One trip planned for an anniversary, the next, just because - one after another, year-round. That place brought happiness to the both of them.

Vincent J. "Vince" D'Appollonio, 68, of Glassport passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026 surrounded by his family. He was born in Lenola, Italy to the late Biagio and Rosa (Colontone) D'Appollonio. Vince carried his Italian heritage with pride throughout his life. As a devoted partner, father, and grandfather - his strength, resilience, and quiet humor defined him. He faced a long and courageous battle with illness, yet his dignity, grace, and unwavering love for his family remained true. He was a beloved fiancee to Diane Menzies of Glassport; a proud and loving father to Gina (Robert Kramer) D'Appollonio of Pittsburgh, and Vinny D'Appollonio of Glassport; as well as a wonderful grandfather to Demia, who brought him immense joy from the moment he found out about her. He is also survived by his step-children, and extended family. Family meant everything to him, and his love is a legacy that will continue to live on through them. He will be remembered for his kindness, loyalty, and steady presence, as well as the deep care he showed for those closest to him. He valued the time spent with his family, the meaningful conversations, and the simple comforts of home - especially his dog, Louie. There is no visitation at this time. Helen M. Weiskircher, 92, of North Huntingdon, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 8, 2026. Born on January 27,1933 in Clairton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Edith (Lotz) White. Helen graduated from McKeesport High School and had a long career working for Equibank in their Elizabeth office. A lifelong Pittsburgh sports fan, Helen enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and was also a season ticket holder for both the Steelers and Pirates. For many years, Helen and her special friend, Rich Steiger, traveled to Treasure Island, Fl during the winter months where they attended many Pirate spring training games in Bradenton. Helen was deeply spiritual and a lifelong and proud member of the Boston United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and served for a period as financial secretary. In her later years, Helen and many of her life-long friends began the tradition of hosting quarterly spaghetti dinners open to the public in order to raise operating funds for the church. Besides being active in church, she was also a member of the Elizabeth Township Senior Citizens. In addition to her parents and in-laws, Russell and Gladys Weiskircher, she was proceeded in death by her loving husband, Albert (Abbie); beloved daughter, Debra Mae Costello; sisters Dorothy (Gerald) Reese and Jane (George) Stevanus; sister in-laws Lila (George) Hackett and Elenora (Jean Vernon, J.V.) Stone; niece Sharma Stone; and, nephew Roy Stevanus. Helen loved her grandchildren dearly and was proud of their life accomplishments. She will be sorely missed by Dr. Jaclyn M. Wood, Andrew Costello, Patrick Costello, Kristin Rohlfs and Katie Crank. Further fulling her life were her great grandchildren Maren Wood, Catherine Wood, Evelyn Wood, Grant Costello, Callan Costello, Rylie Rohlfs, Reagan Rohlfs and Clayton Crank.
