Martin “Red” G. Downes, age 94, of McKeesport, PA, died on Friday, March 13, 2026. He was born in McKeesport, PA on January 5, 1932, and was the son of the late Martin J. and Anna M. Gunning Downes. Martin was known as an excellent fast pitch softball player. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in engineering and after his military service he was employed by the family roofing business. Martin was a member of Mary, Mother of God Parish, St. Angela Merici Church. His faith was of the utmost importance to him, therefore he attended Mass daily.
