Gail (Platt) Altman, 82, of Irwin, died Monday March 18, 2024, at home. She was born November 9, 1942 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Ralph Francis and Edwina (DeWalt) Platt and was also preceded in death by a brother Gordon Platt. Gail received a master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh and was a retired English teacher for the Norwin School District. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Irwin, and also a member of the Women’s Club, the Book Club, the Welcome Wagon, Sweet Adelines, and The Muses theater group. She authored two books, Tales from Tinker Run and Irwin Abstracts, wrote poetry, and taught music at the Norwin YMCA.

Andrea E. “Teeny” “Tina” (Baacke) Harbadin, (90), of York, SC, formerly of North Huntingdon, beloved sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed peacefully from this world on March 16, 2024. Born June 27, 1933, a daughter of the late Peter and Elizabeth (Papp) Baacke, she is also preceded by her husband of over 46 years Joseph T. Harbadin, her sister Carol “Vergie” Cehlar and brother Wilbur “Billy” Baacke.

After helping her father raise her three siblings, she raised 5 children of her own with her husband and was sole caregiver for many years for Joe who suffered from multiple sclerosis before his passing.

Jo An (Bentley) Axton, age 91, of East McKeesport, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 18, 2024. She was born March 2, 1933 in Turtle Creek, a daughter of the late Roy and Marie (Trout) Bentley. She was an active member of the Hillcrest United Presbyterian Church in Monroeville where she made chocolates to sell and bracelets for the needy. She worked as a paralegal in the Patents and Trademark Division of Pittsburgh Plate and Glass in Pittsburgh for over 30 years before retiring. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years Robert James Axton; brother Roy Bently Jr.; and sister Arlene Marie Betthauser. She is survived by her Nephew Ray M. Christian of Jupiter, Florida; and great nieces and nephews in Georgia and Florida. There will be a memorial service at a later date. Genevieve Fix, age 88, of North Huntingdon, died Wednesday March 6, 2024. She was born December 24, 1935 in Bell Township, a daughter of the late Clodinaro and Mary (Maglicco) Piraino. Genevieve was a longtime member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Irwin. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Henry “Bill” Fix and her siblings Louise Long, Lucille Ricci, Rose Sartori, Theresa Wise, Jim Piraino and Ross Piraino. She is survived by her children Michele Staso and her husband, Mark, William Fix, and Dennis Fix and his wife, Tammy, all of North Huntingdon; eight grandchildren Jennifer (Anthony) Kresicki, Jason (Kristen) Staso, Kerri (Erik) Hertzog, Jessica Fix, Staci Fix, Michael (Lauren) Fix, Dennis (Amanda) Fix, and Chelsey (Andrew) Fix-King; 17 great grandchildren; also nieces and nephews.

DeLores “Dee” Martha (Cummings) Simon, age 99, of North Versailles, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2024. She was born September 10, 1924 in Swissvale, the daughter of the late Thomas Carter and Julie (Munch) Cummings. She was a long-time member of the Saint John’s Lutheran Church in North Versailles and taught Sunday school for over 17 years. She served as the President of the Advisory Board of North Versailles for two terms as well as a long time head of the “Ways and Means” Committee. She was a tour guide for over 20 years at the North Versailles Senior Center and the financial Secretary of the travel club.

Marion P. Mazur, age 92, of North Versailles, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2024. Marion was born on October 8, 1931 to the late John and Flora Richards who immigrated from Cornwall, England. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Henry J."Bud" Mazur in 2002, and brothers Jack (Gurli) and David (Kay) Richards. Survived by her identical twin sister Virginia (the late John) Ursin of Churchill, PA, her four children, Jackie (Robert) Harvey of Andover, Ohio, Douglas (Maxine) Mazur of Virginia Beach, VA, Linda (Robert) Eckenrode of Mt. Lebanon, PA, and Brian (Dr. Marie Griffin) Mazur of Leawood, Kansas; 11 Grandchildren, 17 Great-Grandchildren, and her Beloved cat "Tippy."

Marion was a graduate of Swissvale High School then started working for Westinghouse where she met Bud. They married on May 21, 1955 and raised four children. Later she worked at K-Mart for 16 years then became active with her husband in the Syria Shriners attaining the title of "First Lady" in 1987. Following much travel with the Shriners, she and Bud became members of the "Boom-Ba Band" of Al-O-Mon Forest 138, Tall Cedars of Lebanon performing at various venues and raising money for muscular dystrophy.

Gary Dolby, 70, of Irwin, passed away Monday, February 19, 2024. He was born December 28, 1953 in McKeesport, a son of the late Fred R. Dolby Jr. and Elizabeth (Marzalek) Dolby and was also preceded in death by his brother Terre Dolby, and brother’s in-law Tom Rothrauff and John Rupp. Gary was a Navy veteran and he was a skilled carpenter. Throughout his working life, Gary worked as a carpenter and also in many other construction trades. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and camping. Gary also enjoyed spending time with family, had a good sense of humor, liked movies, and playing his favorite golf video game.

Anna Marie Rymarowicz, 92, of East McKeesport passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at St. Anne’s Home in Greensburg. She was born September 25, 1931, to the late Blanch (Olszewski) and John Wegrzynek. She was the loving wife of 54 years to the late Henry Rymarowicz (2009). She was the last of her generation and was preceded in death by her sister, Jane Miskanic and brothers Stanley, Steve and Sam. She is survived by her children, Gary (Daisy) Rymarowicz, Gregory (Betty Jean) Rymarowicz, Donna (Jeffrey) Grott, Steven (Deanne) Rymarowicz, and sister in laws Eileen Rymarowicz and Linda Wegrzynek. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Anna was a 38-year volunteer with the meals on wheels program at Linway Church in North Versailles and a faithful member of St. Joseph the Worker parish in Wilmerding.

Geraldine "Gerry" K. Bellis

Geraldine "Gerry" K. Bellis, 93, of North Versailles, passed away peacefully Friday, January 19, 2024 at home surrounded by her family. She was born September 4, 1930 in Braddock, a daughter of the late John and Mary (Sopko) Kuzma and was also preceded in death by her husband William R. Bellis and a sister Irene Colaric. Gerry was a graduate of Scott High School, North Braddock, then worked for Bell Telephone for many years. She was a member of Mary Mother of God Parish, St. Robert Bellarmine Church, East McKeesport where she worked as a teacher’s aide for 16 years and volunteered for the church and summer festivals. Gerry was a faithful and devout Catholic who believed in the power of prayer. She was a longtime member of the St. Robert Bellarmine prayer chain. She loved to cook and bake for her family, especially birthdays and holidays. She took great pleasure in making birthday cakes for her sons and daughter and nieces and nephews. She was known for her wonderful 4th of July and Thanksgiving holidays at her house. She was the loving mother of William G. (Kathleen) Bellis of North Huntingdon and Mark A. Bellis, Paul E. Bellis and Christine L. Bellis all of North Versailles; cherished grandmother of William R. and Rebecca M. Bellis; and loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan 23, and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan 24, at the Forgie-Snyder Funeral Home, 1032 Broadway Ave., East McKeesport, 412-823-8083. Mildred J. Bobuk, 65, of West Mifflin, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 14, 2024. She was born April 17, 1958 in McKeesport, the daughter of the late John and Bertha (Capner) Dvorsky. Mildred enjoyed cooking, and was an animal lover. She had a very caring personality and was a devoted mother and grandmother. Anna Jean (Fiore) Britner

Anna Jean (Fiore) Britner, 91, of North Versailles, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, January 2, 2024. She was born March 4, 1932 in Wilkinsburg, a daughter of the late Michael and Julia P. (Mannetty) Fiore and was also preceded in death by her husband Sonny Britner. She operated Britner Tax Service for over 52 years and assisted her late husband in his business, Britner Generator Shop, West Wilmerding.

She was a devoted pastor of Holy Spirit Praise & Fellowship Center, Wilmerding and also as director of Brush Valley Christian Retreat. She was member of the West Wilmerding VFD Auxiliary and was a big Elvis Presley fan. She was a former member and first female president of the East Allegheny School Board serving from 1972-1977.

She was the loving mother of Carla (the late Mark) Heider and Michael J. Britner; cherished grandmother of John C. (Amie) Heider, Timothy M. (Jill) Heider and Rachel M. Bernard L. Opsitos

Bernard L. Opsitos, age 82, of North Huntingdon, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2024. He was born August 14, 1941 in Homestead, and was one of ten kids to the late John and Agnes Opsitos. He worked for over 40 years as an automotive repairman for Earl Scheib before retiring. He loved Elvis Presley and his enjoyment of cars continued when he attending local car shows. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a grandson Andrew. His survived by his children Pam Opsitos of Irwin, Johnny Opsitos of Munhall, Phil Meighan of Nashville, Tennessee and Brandi Mayville of Irwin; and grandchildren Johnathon, Kimberly, Michael, Candice, Cody, Blake, Bella and Trysta. Catherine “Kitty” Louise (McNeill) Rosenbayger, age 94, of East McKeesport, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 29, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born August 23, 1929 in Pitcairn, a daughter of the late James and Genevieve (Peduzzi) McNeill. She was a member of Mary Mother of God parish, formerly St. Robert Bellarmine Church in East McKeesport. Kitty's entire world centered around her children. She enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family, extended family and friends who eventually became family. She reveled in her home being full of love and laughter and everyone was always welcome there.

Kitty loved to bake and was famous for her Christmas cookies and banana bread. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son Michael Rosenbayger; grandson Sean Brown; and brothers Jerry, Rich and Bob McNeill. She is survived by her children Randy (Lori) Rosenbayger of Fitchburg, Massachusetts, Gery (Lynne) Rosenbayger of North Versailles, Lynn (Bill) Brown of East McKeesport, Connie Rosenbayger of East McKeesport, Kathleen (David) Heckenstaller of Penn Township and Diane (Tom) Santucci of Churchill; daughter-in-law Mariann Rosenbayger of North Versailles; 15 grandchildren and their spouses; 6 great grandchildren; sister Linda Trinchero; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Earl “Huck” Wesley Howard Sr., age 77, of Irwin, formerly of East McKeesport, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2023. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Janice P. Howard; children Earl “Wes” (Nicole) Howard Jr., Tracy (Brian) Drotar, Jennifer (Mike) Smith and Jamie (Jack) Garbutt; grandchildren Joshua (Rachael), Sean, Nick, Stefan, Autumn and Amelia; great-grandchildren Kady, Cali and Aniyla; brother Robert “Butch” Howard Jr.; and sisters Florence Schultz and Eileen (George) Skiles. Huck honorably served his country while enlisted in the Navy. He was known for his ever beaming smile and generous spirit that would lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Huck’s family meant the world to him and he delighted at every family gathering. Huck never met a car show he didn’t like. His passion for antique cars was unmatched and one could see his enjoyment as he proudly drove his 1936 International pickup on a daily basis. Huck loved blue grass music and was always down for a grand ole “picking session”. Huck was formerly employed at WABCO where he developed and maintained lasting friendships. He retired from Square D where he worked as a field service technician. He always looked forward to his annual trips to Hershey, PA for the AACA Club International Car Show. His honorable and integritous personality will be missed by all who knew him, especially his family.

Brian K. Heyz I, 60, of North Huntingdon, died Monday December 25, 2023, at home. He was born December 21, 1963, in McKeesport, a son of the late Bert L. and Corrine (Dvorsky) Heyz. Brian was semi-retired from working in the construction industry as a union carpenter. He was a graduate of Norwin High School, Class of 1982 and was a member of Shidle Lodge, No. 601, Free and Accepted Masons, Irwin. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending hours in his garden, watching wildlife from his porch, and weekend trips riding his quad. He is survived by his wife Beth (Trout) Heyz; his sons Brian K. (Savannah) Heyz II of Texas and Brandon K. (Caitlin) Heyz of Georgia; step-son Jeremy Waugaman; grandchildren Nova, Maddox, Tyler, and Brody; a brother Russell “Russ” Heyz of North Huntingdon; a sister Donnell (Tad) Minerva and niece Corrine of Jeannette; his mother-in law, Mary Trout; and other numerous nieces and nephews.
