Obituaries | The Tube City Almanac | November 24, 2023

James (Jimmy) Robert Boughner, 64, of Mount Vernon, passed away unexpectantly from a pulmonary embolism on Monday, November 20, 2023. Jimmy was a loving husband and father, a humble and devoted man to family and friends. “Where the path of love and friendship cross, it leaves a mark forever.”
Jimmy was a 1977 graduate of Elizabeth Forward High School, a graduate of The Ohio State University and the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. He was an attorney, Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and Certified Financial Planner (CFP).
Jimmy was a person of broad accomplishments and impeccable character in his personal, professional, and civic life. He worked for five companies; Ernst & Whinney, Arthur Andersen, The Beechwood Company, Schneider Downs, and The Nutting Company, Wheeling, WV. Jimmy always worked behind the scenes to make others more successful without the desire or need for recognition.
Jimmy served as a board member and President of the Mount Vernon Cemetery, Trustee of the E.R. Crawford Estate Trust, member of Youghiogheny Country Club, member of Wheeling Country Club, committee member and past President of West Penn Golf Association, member of the USGA Junior National Committee, board member and past Treasurer of Mon River Arts, Treasurer/Secretary/Director of Membership of the Financial Planning Association of Pittsburgh, and member, elder, and former Chairperson of the Corporation of the Mount Vernon Community Presbyterian Church. Through all these positions, Jimmy served the Lord he loved. He knew he was blessed, and he was a blessing to others. (Genesis 12:2)

Traveling, hiking, and playing some of the world’s most famous golf courses were among Jimmy’s true passions and honors. This year he won not only the Youghiogheny Country Club Golf Championship for the eighth time but also the Senior Golf Championship. In addition to golf, Jimmy was passionate about sports, especially those of The Ohio State University, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Pittsburgh Steelers. Jimmy and his son A. J. saw a baseball game at all 30 of the major league stadiums.
Jimmy was born on July 14, 1959, in Pittsburgh, and was the son of the late Richard John Boughner and Margaret Jean (Simpson) Boughner. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Deborah Jean (Buell) Boughner, son A.J. Boughner of Edgewood, sisters Jane (Douglas) Vernon of Seattle, WA, and Susan (Richard) Cushnie of Kalamazoo, MI, nieces and nephews, in-laws, friends, and his faithful dog, Augusta Cypress.
As Jimmy recently said to many of his close friends and family, “I have had a good life.”
