John D. Churchfield Sr., 85, of Jeannette, died Thursday, February 22, 2024. He was born June 2, 1938 in Wilmerding, a son of the late Homer B. and Catherine (Gryzbowski) Churchfield. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 61 years Elaine L. (Maloney) Churchfield and siblings Nelson Churchfield, Willliam Churchfield, and Arline Volpe. He was a member of Penn Zion Lutheran Church, Harrison City. He is survived by his children Diane McDermott (the late Mac) of Forest Hills, John D. Churchfield Jr. and his wife Roni Jo of Hempfield Township and Nancy Churchfield of Penn Township; his grandchildren Adam McDermott, Meagan Worth (Josh), Mollie Minich (John), William Churchfield (Michael), Jacklynn Churchfield (Josh Humberger), Kylee Louies (Peter), Karly Reichert (Rick), and Austin Gnesda (Hannah Corey); great grandchildren Josh, Daphne, Connor, Kohen, Lila, Jackson, Lainey, Jett, Averie, Russell, and Matthew; a sister Naomi Zywiec of Wilmerding; also nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, February 25, at the William Snyder Funeral Home, 521 Main Street, Irwin, 724-863-1200, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 26, with Pastor Roger Steiner, officiating.
