Bertha Mae Brown, age 78 of Clairton, passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 in Baldwin Health Center. Born February 6, 1942 in Montgomery, AL, she was a daughter of the late Thomas V. and Rosie (Ford) Brown. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Rebecca Chapman Brown. She is survived by her sister Michelle (Henry Watkins) Brown; her brothers Rommy Lee Brown, Robert Lee Brown, Jimmy Lee Brown, Eddie Lee Brown, and John Lee Brown; and also nieces and nephews.

Norma Jean Johnson, 75, was born January 19, 1946, in Elizabeth, PA. The beloved daughter of the late Timothy and Ruth (Woods) Johnson, departed this life on January 27, 2021 at UPMC Shadyside. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Margo Johnson.
Norma Jean grew up in Elizabeth, the eldest of the 4 daughters of Timothy and Ruth, graduated from Elizabeth Forward High School. After graduation, she obtained a position at Mobil Oil in McKees Rocks. A short while later, she obtained employment at US Steel in downtown Pittsburgh. She spent the remainder of her career with US Steel until she retired.
Norma Jean enjoyed reading and she often visited the library. Walking was a favorite activity for both exercise and as a fundraiser for charities. She also enjoyed line dancing which enabled her to be active and maintain friendships. She loved to travel both home and abroad, from the Mediterranean to Mexico. Even around the United States, her destinations included, the Grand Canyon and New Orleans as well as her last venture which was an Alaskan cruise.

Paul E. Bekavac, age 74, of Gibsonia and Key West, FL, and formerly of Clairton, passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at home. He was a retired funeral director and owner of the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home in Elizabeth. He attended the University of Notre Dame until his father’s untimely death in 1965, and furthered his education at Duquesne University and the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science.
Upon his retirement in 2004, he relocated to Key West to follow his life long love of fishing. Born March 1, 1946 in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late Anthony J. and Elvira Y. “Patty” (Yavor) Bekavac. He is survived by his partner and best friend, Teri Dulac of Gibsonia; daughter, Heather (Michael) Lutz of Pleasant Hills; sons, Tony (Rachel) Bekavac of Pleasant Hills and Paul E. Bekavac, Jr. of New York, NY; grandchildren, Cole, Preston and Ava Lutz and Anthony & Andre Bekavac; sister, Nancy Y. Bekavac of Washington, DC; brother, Daniel F. (Patti) Bekavac of Elizabeth Twp.; nephew, Daniel F. (Tara Jayant) Bekavac, Jr. of South Park; niece, Chloe (Jason) Fox of Damascus, MD; also, great- nephews and cousins.

William Emmett Long III, 72, died at home on April 28, 2020. William grew up in North Versailles, Pennsylvania with his parents William E. Long II and Doris Long. William furthered his education by attending trade school in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Upon returning home from school, William settled with his wife Sandra, in Elizabeth Township, Pennsylvania. William retired as a Senior Inspector, from Bechtel - Bettis, after 40 years, in 2011. He was a graduate of Westinghouse High School. William was preceded in death by his son, William Emmett Long IV. William is survived by his widow, Sandra and daughter, Kerry.
Funeral arrangements were in charge of Ball Funeral Chapel, Pittsburgh.

A member of Crossroads Community Church in Jefferson Hills, she loved antiquing, cultivating vegetables and flowers, and her customers. She was a master seller on Ebay and a member of the YMCA in Monongahela. Born May 11, 1954 in Monongahela, she was a daughter of the late Kay (Evans) Wood-Sabatini. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, James H. Yedinak, and sister, Debbie (Larry) Jones of Finleyville; also, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Anton “Carry” van Tol, 77, of Sebastian, Fl, formerly of Elizabeth Township, passed away Monday, February 1, 2021 after a courageous 10 year battle with cancer. He has resided in Sebastian for the past 5 years. He was born in Amsterdam, Netherlands January 11, 1944 and was the son of the late Antoon and Wilhelmina van Tol. He is survived by his wife of over 55 years Nora (Bloom) van Tol, daughter Christine van Tol of Versailles, grandchildren Colleen Mence (Matthew) of Wilson and Keith Mence of Versailles, great grandchildren: Erik, Denver and Nora, brother Rene (Debbie) van Tol of Round Rock TX and sister Ingrid (Bill) Hailer of West Virginia. Carry was the co proprietor of the former Highland Meadows Auto Service in Elizabeth Township before retiring to Florida. While living in Elizabeth Township for 45 years, he served as past president of the Rotary Club of Elizabeth and was a member of the Mason’s Duquesne McKeesport Lodge # 731. He was also known for lending a hand and humor when needed. There is no visitation. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
