Diane L. Kurta, age 62 of Elizabeth Twp., died on March 30, 2017 at Canterbury Place. Born September 8, 1954 in McKeesport, she was the daughter of William and the late Agnes (Salopek) Bogdan and the beloved wife of Andrew Kurta for 38 years. Diane worked for UPMC McKeesport as an office manager for over 30 years. She loved to tend to her home and always had decorations for each of the holidays and seasons. In addition to her husband Andrew, she is survived by her son, Adam Kurta; aunt, Shirley (Michael) Andreyko and Evelyn (the late Gene) Bogdan and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Eva M. (Smith) Herold, age 95, of North Huntingdon, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2017. She was born May 8, 1921 in Irwin, a daughter of the late Samuel L. and Alma M. (Frye) Smith. She was a long time member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Irwin and was a former member of the church choir. She worked as a personal manager for over 20 years at Telephone Answering Service in Pittsburgh. She was an avid knitter and collector of ceramics and was a great Pittsburgh Pirates fan.

Joan K. Steele, age 68, of Pittsburgh, formerly of Jacksonville, FL died March 30, 2017, at St. Margaret UPMC. Born September 13, 1948, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late John and Nell (Popichak) Smolak of the Carnegie area and the beloved wife of Donald Steele, for over 45 years.
Joan was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse. She enjoyed sewing her own clothes, dancing, bowling and baking. She loved dogs and always had a pet dog in her life. One of the greatest highlights of her life was a trip to Israel with her husband Don.
In addition to her husband Don, Joan is survived by a brother, John (Georgette) Smolak, Jr., of Danville, PA, formerly of Carnegie; nephew, John (Christy) Smolak, III of Bethel Park; and many cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother, Eugene Smolak.
Family and friends will be received at Willig Funeral Home & Crematory on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, from 11 a.m. until the time of blessing service at 12:15 p.m., with Fr. Matthew Elanjileth officiating. Burial will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.

Irene C. Miller, age 93, of McKeesport passed away peacefully on March 30, 2017 at her home surrounded by family. Born January 9, 1924 in Ulanow Poland, she was the daughter of the late Jan and Jozefa Chmielowski and the wife of the late Lloyd W. Miller, Jr. Irene was taken from her home in 1943 to work in a forced labor camp in Germany. In 1945 she met her husband during the war. In 1947 she came to the United States to start a family and a career. She worked at the McKeesport Hospital for 45 years where she retired as a nurses aid. Irene enjoyed gardening, cooking, singing, Pittsburgh sports and spending time with her family. She was a member of Corpus Christi Parish and St. Mary Czestochowa bowling league. Irene is survived by her children, Barbara Adams of Sigel, Lori (Robert) Davis of North Huntingdon, Lloyd W. Miller III of Munhall and William J. Miller of McKeesport; grandchildren, Josette (John) Kippenberger, Justin (Elizabeth) Davis and Michael (Lauren) Davis; great-grandchildren, Elisha, Desiree, Michael, Logan, Jaxson and Lennon; great-great grandchildren, Sophia, Sterling and Skylar; sisters, Helen and Mary. John R. “Jack” Kinsey, 93, of Irwin, passed away peacefully Thursday March 30, 2017. He was born November 9, 1923 in Irwin, a son of the late Russell L. and Returah “Toots” (Stitley) Kinsey and was also preceded in death by his wife of sixty nine years Eleanore B. (Jacko) Kinsey in September 2016, a daughter Marianne Kinsey, a son Thomas L. Kinsey Sr., and a brother Arthur C. “Bud” Kinsey. He was a graduate of Norwin High School, class of 1942, a Navy veteran of WWII having served in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre, a retired employee of Westinghouse Electric Corp., East Pittsburgh and a member of the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Irwin.
