Carolyn J. Halas, 83, of McKeesport, died Sunday, November 26, 2023 in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.  Born in McKeesport on June 20, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Gabor and Ella Szegedy Orris, and wife of the late Frank Joseph Halas.  She is survived by her daughter, Carriella Halas of McKeesport, brother, Frank (Kathy) Orris of Florida, sister, Gloria (Ed) Jordanhazy of New Castle, god-daughters Diane Weber and Emily (Jared) Sherman, also by nieces and nephews.

Carolyn was a member of the Free Hungarian Reformed Church of McKeesport, serving as their organist for many years.  She was church treasurer for 20 years, and was a member of its Women’s Guild.  She worked as a receptionist at a doctor’s office in the South Hills.  A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 9, 2023 at noon in the Free Hungarian Reformed Church of McKeesport with the Rev. Daniel Borsay officiating.  Hunter Funeral Home, Inc., 1600 Coursin Street, McKeesport, PA  15132 is in charge of arrangements.  The family suggests contributions to the Free Hungarian Reformed Church of McKeesport, 101 University Drive, McKeesport, PA  15132.
