Elmer G. Grooms, 94, of Elizabeth Township, died Wednesday, November 2, 2016. He was born May 5, 1922 in Dravosburg and was the son of the late John and Myrtle Fry Grooms. He was retired from US Steel in Pittsburgh and the Elizabeth Forward School District. Elmer was a US Army Veteran serving in WWII. For his service, he received the Army of Occupation Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal and the WWII Victory Medal.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Lillian Obit Grooms, daughter, Betty Grooms Baker of Abingdon, MD, nieces and nephews . He was preceded in death by his brothers, James Tillery and Robert Grooms, sister, Emma Jane Haselhoff, and son-in-law, Kent Baker. Friends are welcome from 4-8:00 pm, Friday, November 4 at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township. (412) 751-5000 Drew J. Gilbert, Director. Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, November 5, at 10:00 am. with The Rev. Jody Dausey, officiating.
