Obituaries | The Tube City Almanac | March 08, 2024
Norene (Walton) Burton was born on December 21, 1963, to the late Murther Lee Bryant and Willie Walton in McKeesport, PA.
Norene was educated in the McKeesport public school system. She married her high school sweetheart and next-door neighbor who joined the Navy and was stationed on the West Coast in Seattle, Washington and later Stationed in Alameda, California. When she and her family moved to California, she furthered her education at the Peralta Community College. In the early nineties, she worked as a legal secretary for agencies which provided her with the opportunity to work in various locations within Alameda County.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, baking, playing games, and being creative. In her spare time, Norene enjoyed witnessing to others about Jesus Christ and was a devoted member of True Vine Baptist Church in Oakland, CA.
In 1989, she was provided the opportunity to be the president of Acorn Ministries, which provided inner city youth within Acorn Housing Development the opportunity to participate in weekly bible study and other activities. Norene was excited about teaching the children in her community about Jesus Christ. She truly believed and stood on the scripture Proverb 22:6 (training up a child in the way they should go and when they get old, they will not depart.). Norene was so passionate about her ministry to the point she would take from her fixed income to supply food and fund special projects for the neighborhood children.
She also assisted with various toy and food drives for those who were in the underserved community. Post membership with True Vine Ministries she continued to selflessly help those in need however she could and continued to witness about Jesus Christ. In her later years, she continued to exemplify strength and grace as she persevered through life. Norene exemplified the essence of selfless giving. Her love knew no bounds, extending to family, friends, and even strangers in need. She mirrored the compassion of our Lord and Savior, she was always ready to lend a helping hand, of er a comforting word, or share a warm embrace. Her generosity was not just an act; it was a way of life, a reflection of the love she found in her relationship with Jesus Christ.
