Obituaries | The Tube City Almanac | November 18, 2016

On June 4, 1925, a little girl, Cynthia Louise was born to Edwin and Lillian Pascoe of Calamity Hollow. She joined 3 brothers and 5 sisters; Robert, Melvina, Harold, Vernon, Marybelle, Alice, Ruth and Margaret.  Louise graduated from Clairton High in 1943, the first of the family to do so.  She was offered a scholarship to the University of Pittsburgh, but it was during war time and the family needed her to work.  Louise worked at the Clairton Mill first as an inspector in the 40 inch mill then doing the payroll.

In January of 1946, she and her friend, Ruthie Schultz went to a dance at The Palisades in McKeesport.  That evening she met a tall, thin guy named Bob Spivak.  By the time the evening was over, she knew that she had met her future husband.  Louise and Bob were married on December 5, 1946, in the living room of her parent's home.  In 1954, they had their only child, Barbara, who became the center of their world.

Bob had been working at the Famous Department Store, but then got a taste of being self-employed at G. Wilikers in Monroeville.  Louise and Bob had an $.88 Booth and Bob was put in charge of the auction.  Before long, with the help of their friend Bill Seaman, they ventured out on their own and started the Norwin Auction Gallery.  For 37 years, Bob and Louise provided their loyal followers with bargains (Bob's job) and entertainment (Louise's job).  Louise was known as "The Bag Lady" as she sold grab bags and pass outs at the auction.

Louise could be the life of the party, as were all the Pascoe girls.  She loved game shows, Sarris chocolate, Danny's hoagies, the dog track, lottery rub offs, but especially spending time with her family.  Louise and Bob lived in their home on Wendel Road, Irwin, for over 45 years.  They had been married for 62 years when Bob passed away in June 2009.

Whether you called her Louise, Weezie, Mother, or Aunt, her passing will leave a void in many lives until we all meet again.

Sorrow looks back, Worry looks around, but Faith looks up!

Friends will be received at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon, PA on Sunday from 2-8 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 9:30 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Irwin, with Fr. John Moineau officiating.  Interment in Roundhill Cemetery, Elizabeth, PA.  Her daughter Barbara would like to thank the staff of Golden Heights Personal Care Home, Irwin  and Promise Hospice.  Donations may be made to Immaculate Conception Church, Irwin, PA.  www.shirleyfuneralhome.com.
