Edgar Danks McCandless, 97, of White Oak, passed away Tuesday July 23, 2024. He was born May 17, 1927 in Charleston, West Virginia, and was the son of the late Edgar and Elizabeth (Danks) McCandless. Edgar was a US Army Veteran, serving at the end of World War 2. After his service he graduated from West Virginia University with a Bachelor's degree. He was a manager for GC Murphy Company in the home office and warehouse, where he oversaw four distribution centers. He enjoyed golfing, boating, water skiing and going on cruises.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Marie McCandless; sons, Michael (Denise) McCandless of Ohio and Ken (Becky) McCandless of North Carolina; grandchildren, Samantha, Sandra, Laura, Elizabeth and Morgan; and 6 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret "Sissy" Lipscomb McCandless, wife, Louise Frye McCandless and son, Patrick Lee McCandless. Friends are welcome Friday July 26, 2024 from 10am to Noon at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1638 Lincoln Way, White Oak. (412) 672-6322 Troy J. Gilbert, director. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 12 noon with Deacon Dale DiSanto officiating. Entombment will follow at the St. Joseph Cemetery, North Versailles.
