William "Bill" Francis Piper, 86, of Elizabeth Township, died Thursday, December 1, 2016. He was born February 11, 1930 in Clairton and was the son of the late William and Marguerite Conway Piper. He was a member of St. Michael Parish in Elizabeth Township, and the Elizabeth Township Senior Citizens and also enjoyed Square Dancing. He was a volunteer for the Central Food Pantry and Meals on Wheels. Bill was retired from US Steel Irvin Works.
He is survived by his wife, Verla Elizabeth McCurry Piper, sons, William B. (Betsy) Piper and Barry (Cathy) Piper of Elizabeth Township, daughters, Lynn (Kenneth) Jones of Elizabeth Township and Susan (William) Boucher and Kathy (Arnold) Shaner of Elizabeth, brother, James Michael "Mike" Piper of TX, sister, Marlene Hornfeck of AZ, grandchildren, Shawn, Eric, Amanda, Ian, Megan, Melissa, Kenny, Chris, Laura, Luke, William, Hannah, Quinton, and Allison, great-grandchildren, Evan, Ethan, Caleb, Isabella, Olivia, Ella, and Clara, nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by brothers, Russell "Bud" and Edward Piper, and sisters, Joyce Galetti and Maxine Gatto. Friends are welcome Sunday, December 4 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township. (412) 751-5000 Drew J.
