Obituaries | The Tube City Almanac | April 09, 2025

Patricia "Sissy" Ann Spencer, age 88, of North Versailles, formerly of McKeesport, died April 6, 2025, at UPMC East Hospital. Born August 26, 1936, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Maria (Kanser) Alfer and wife to Kenneth Spencer for 70 years.

Born with a passion for numbers, Patricia spent many years as an accountant for G&S Arco, a company she and her husband were proud to own. After retiring from their business, she lent her talents to the McKeesport Candy Company, where her hard work and commitment was of great value.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Patricia was an active member of her community. She selflessly volunteered for the Green Valley Volunteer Fire Company and served on the local board of elections, believing in the importance of civic duty. Patricia's dedication to her community was equaled only by her love for adventure. Throughout her life, she enjoyed countless road trips, including cherished travels along the historic Route 66, where memories were made that will last a lifetime.

What she loved to do most was a good home improvement project, looking for ways to add touches to her surroundings so everyone felt welcome. As her husband honed his woodworking skills, Patricia brought those creations to life through her artistic touch, carefully painting each piece. Their shared love extended to the bowling league at Great Valley Lanes, where laughter and camaraderie filled the air. When not working on a project, she was creating memories at their summer home in Bedford.

As each holiday approached, Patricia's kitchen became a haven of warmth and sweetness, filled with the delicious aromas of her homemade cookies, cakes, and especially her famous apple pie, which became a family favorite.

In addition to her husband, Patricia is survived by her daughter, Karen Spencer; grandchildren, Kristi (Timothy), Kasey (Lanie), and Mathew; and great-grandchildren, Conner, Savannah (Devin), Dylan, Ada, and Simon.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her daughter Kimberly Mason; and granddaughter Jennifer Crooks.

Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Saturday, April 12, beginning at 10 a.m., until the time of memorial service at noon in the funeral home chapel. The burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery.
