The world became a happier place on November 6, 1936, the day Horst B. Denner was born. Horst sadly passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 10, 2025, after a long and happy life. He was the son of late Karl and Getrude Denner. He was the beloved husband of Christel (Franielczyk) (a.k.a. schatzi); loving father of Monika Denner and Dorene (Chris) Nieto; grandpa of Atheana (Thomas) Fisher, Diva (David) Mares, Alexander (Jaclyn) Denner, and Bianca and Ashley Smith; great-grandpa (a.k.a. GG-pa) of Sage and Emmett Mares, and Thomas Jr. and Odette Fisher; brother of the late Karl and Ernst Denner; and uncle to a number of adored nieces and nephews. Horst was deeply loved and will be forever missed. Horst was born in Emsdetten Westfalia, Germany. He emigrated to the United States in 1959, served the U.S. Army for two years, and became an American citizen. Horst and Christel settled roots in San Jose, CA. In September 2019, Horst and Christel decided to move closer to family in Pittsburgh - just two doors up from their granddaughter, Diva. Horst was a kind, loving and friendly person. He retired from IBM Inc. in the late 1980s and spent his time volunteering at a local al-anon, traveling, bicycling, windsurfing, scuba diving, hiking, playing soccer, and having coffee with his buddies on Mondays at McDonalds. Later in life, he enjoyed keeping up on current events, relaxing in his wife’s flower garden, birdwatching, and chasing his great-grandchildren around. A private celebration of life, remembering Horst in the presence of close family, will be at a later date. Arrangements by the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, Elizabeth.
