Geraldine A. "Maggie" Shurtz, 67, of Adamsburg, died Sunday January 1, 2017. She was born May 17, 1949 in Buena Vista, and was the daughter of the late Howard and Martha Ellenberger Taylor. Geraldine had worked for Kinder Care in Irwin, Dick's Sporting Goods warehouse in Smithton, Bombardier in West Mifflin and Respironics in Murrysville. She was a member of AARP. "Maggie" made the best homemade fudge in the world.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald G. Shurtz, daughter, Annette (Jim) Burkholder of Youngwood, granddaughter, Taylor (fiancée, George Niezgoda) Burkholder of Mount Pleasant, sisters, Shirley (Bill) Slagy and Lydia Taylor of Buena Vista, brothers, James Taylor of Buena Vista, Grover (Faith) Taylor of Charleroi, and Fred (Kathy) Taylor of Elizabeth Township, nieces and nephews. There is no visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township.
