William Cartia
Obituaries | The Tube City Almanac | March 22, 2026

Bill’s interests extended beyond automobiles. He found joy in attending country music concerts and musicals at the Benedum Center. He cherished road trips that allowed him to explore new places and create lasting memories. A lover of simple pleasures, he enjoyed feeding squirrels at the park and starting each morning with coffee alongside friends and fellow veterans. He was a proud member of the VFW, The American Legion, and The Polish Club. Regular visits to Dunkin’ Donuts and the Corner Donut Shop (Shelley) were part of his daily routine. Family was central to Bill’s life. He is survived by his beloved wife Alyce (Vincent); children Scott (Hope Morgan), Frank Corente Jr., Monniequa (Ron) Meyers, Aliscyn (Jeff) DiPerna, and Brandy (Andrew) Perez; as well as 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Among those closest to him were his goddaughter/granddaughter Senniequa Samusa and bonus granddaughter/caregiver Jennifer Stokes. Bill also leaves behind his brother Joseph (Karen); sisters Lenore Chapman, Adrie (Juan) Tognarini, and "baby" sister Elsamarie (Addie) Feltes; nephew Adam; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins; and special nephews Edward Flohr, Jaymin Tognarini, Christopher Tognarini, and Corey Tognarini. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Wilda (Hughes); sons Sanford "Sandy" Braden and Rocco Corente; sisters Carita Tognarini and Joanna Tewell; grandsons Rocco W. Vitale Sr. and Spencer DiPerna. Bill’s legacy is one of hard work, devotion to family, camaraderie with friends, and a zest for life’s simple joys. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
