Obituaries | The Tube City Almanac | March 30, 2026

It is with deep love and heartfelt remembrance that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, a woman who truly embodied what it meant to be a grandmother. Dorothy Mae Fink, 89, of Munhall, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2026. She was born February 20, 1937 in Duquesne and was the daughter of the late Alfred and Helen (Heil) Anderson. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward E. "Gene" Fink, who passed away October 6, 2018.  It is nearly impossible to capture such a meaningful life in a few words, as hers was filled with love, joy, and devotion. She made being a grandmother not just a role, but her whole heart. Her days were filled with laughter, storytelling, music, and moments that will live on in all of us. We will forever treasure the simple joys she gave us: painting the fence with water on warm afternoons, English muffin pizza parties, and sleepovers filled with love and laughter. She had a gift for turning ordinary moments into lasting memories. Her home was always filled with music, playing records that became the soundtrack of our lives. Whether during quiet afternoons or lively gatherings, music brought warmth and joy to every moment. She made sure no grandchild went without a treat. Her freezer was stocked with freeze pops, her pantry with favorite snacks-including ginger snap cookies and frosted animal cookies-and her purse always held butterscotch candies, cinnamon discs, and spicy gum, which she shared with a smile and a gentle warning. Her playful spirit shone during spirited rounds of Uncle Wiggily, where her laughter was as memorable as the game itself. She could recite Mother Goose nursery rhymes by heart, captivating generations.

And with her signature humor, she turned even the silliest moments into laughter-famously calling little “farts” “a mouse on a motorcycle.” Her love was constant and comforting, often expressed in her familiar words: “We love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck.” Those words will stay with us always. Though she is gone for now, she will never be forgotten. Her legacy lives on in the traditions we carry, the love we share, and the memories we hold close. She taught us to love deeply, cherish family, and find joy in the simplest moments. We will miss her dearly and remain forever grateful for the life she lived and the love she gave so freely. Gone for now, but never forgotten. Her legacy lives on in all of us. She is survived by sons, Edward P. (JoAnne) Fink of Munhall, Thomas C. (Colleen) Fink of South Park, and Barry W. Fink of Lincoln Boro; 16 grandchildren, Melissa Fink, Edward Fink, Nathan Fink, Vincent Fink, Kevin Fink, Stephanie Kern, Stacey Kern, Sarah Kern, Samantha Kern, Thomas Fink Jr., Amy Hannan, Erin Fink, Staci Hoover, Caitlin Walak, Naomi Fink and Benjamin Fink; 17 great-grandchildren; brothers, William (Lee) Anderson and Raymond Anderson; sisters, Judith Ragan, Lois Cunningham, Catherine Conroy, Terese Deluca, and Jeanne Anderson; as well a numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia M. Kern, who passed away August 17, 2023.   There will not be any visitation or services. Arrangements are by the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township (412) 751-5000 Drew J. Gilbert, Director.
