Mary (Molly) E. Holder, 95, formerly of Pittsburgh and North Huntingdon, died on Saturday, February 4, 2017 in Copperas Cove, Texas.

Born June 12, 1921, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of Friedrich (Fred) and Mary (WHITE) NEUMANN.  She was the former society editor and columnist for the Times Observer and Standard Observer newspapers in Irwin as well as for the Clinton Chronicle in SC. Mrs. Holder was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity in Irwin. Surviving are her four children, Ronald and wife Garnet of Tucson, AZ; Terry and wife Carol of Aurora, OH; Ruth Lentz and husband Larry of Kissimmee, FL; and Cliff and his wife Jessica of Killeen, TX; seven grandchildren, Rob (Dee) Holder of Tucson, AZ; Chris (Traci) Holder of Wichita, KS; Philip (Lisa) Holder of New York, NY; Russell Lentz of Tallahassee, FL; Larry Lentz Jr. of Kissimmee, FL; Gretchen (Frank) Esquenazi of Killeen, TX; and Madelyn (Travis) Husted of Fountain, CO; 10 great-grandchildren Ethan and Kaleb Holder; Sean, Jacob, Paul and Annika Lentz; Braeden and Caleb Allemand; Olivia Esquenazi; and Dayna Husted; and many special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Clifford W. Holder, the son of Herbert and Mary (KAMPMAN) Holder, who died in 1995; siblings, Margaretha Blahut, Fred, Bill, Charles, Earl, and James; and Victor Morello who was like a brother to Molly.

Molly was such a sweet person who loved people, reading, chatting, correspondence, hosting international visitors, dancing, drinking cups of tea, playing 500, baking pies, emailing, spending time with family, and Ireland from which her maternal grandparents emigrated. Her favorite saying was “Live in a house by the side of the road and be a friend to man.” She will be deeply missed.  Friends will be received at the Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon, PA on Friday from 6-8 p.m.  A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.  Interment will be in Long Run Cemetery, North Huntingdon. www.shirleyfuneralhome.com.
