Denis J. Rinkacs, 83, of North Huntingdon, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, March 19, 2017.

He was born November 23, 1933 in Duquesne, PA, a son of the late John and Anna Koken Rinkacs.  Prior to his retirement, Denis worked for Westinghouse Bettis supporting the Naval Nuclear Program and was a veteran of the US Navy.  He was a graduate and All American Swimmer at Villanova University, member of St. Stephen Byzantine Catholic Church and served on the reunion committee for Duquesne High School.  He was a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award from the Boy Scouts of America, an avid deer hunter and later made canes for a hobby.  He led a very active life and loved to spend time with his family and grandkids, traveling up and down the east coast.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Cass McDougall Rinkacs.  He is survived by his second wife, Alice Smith Rinkacs; children, Bill and his wife, Heidi, Denny and his wife Cheryl, Chris and her husband, Keith, John and his wife, Diane, Tom and his wife, Debbie, David and his wife, Kathy; eleven grandchildren, C.J., Wynonna, Sam, Paul, Jacob, Maddie, Thomas, Cassie, Nate, Sophia and Nicholas; sisters, Jean Ann Denne and her husband, Ken, Patricia Balta and her husband, Ron.  Friends will be received at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon, PA on Friday from 2-8 p.m.  A Parastas service will take place at 3 p.m. in the funeral home. A funeral liturgy will take place on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in St. Stephen Byzantine Catholic Church.  Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, North Versailles, PA.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Boy Scouts of America or St. Stephen Byzantine Catholic Church, North Huntingdon.  www.shirleyfuneralhome.com.
