Obituaries | The Tube City Almanac | March 30, 2017

Raymond A. “Mex” Maldonado, age 63 of McKeesport, died at home on March 28, 2017.  Born June 26, 1953 in McKeesport, he was the son of Harry R. (the late Margaret) Maldonado and Alicia (Jerry) Peters.  He was the loving husband of Cindy (Stumme) Maldonado for 25 years.  Ray worked as a Maintenance Supervisor for Mifflin Estates.  He was a “dad” to many and was always willing to mentor and provide for anyone.  He was remembered in the summer for paying the ice cream man in advance so that way, any kid who came up was more than welcome to enjoy some ice cream at no expense.  The word hate did not exist in his vocabulary.  He had a passion for bass fishing and going to his second home at Lake Wilhelm.  In addition to his wife, he is survived by children, Chad (Sarah) Maldonado; Kelly (John Jr.) Hatfield, Katy (Layne) Hurst, and grandchildren, Olivia “O”, Caleb, Cash, Jordan, and Alexis; siblings, Lisa Maldonado, Brian Maldonado, Cindy Campagna, Jennifer Evars, Jerry Peters, Pam (Tom) Keffer  and Leayn Thomas.  He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, special sons and daughters.  He was preceded in death by mother, Margaret Maldonado; brothers Bruce Maldonado and Chuck McCune.   Family and friends will be received on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m, and Monday services will be held at the funeral home chapel at 10:00 a.m.  Interment will follow at Penn Lincoln Memorial Park.  Condolences may be shared at www.jaycox-jaworskifh.com
