Isaiah Chavis, Jr., 84 years, of McKeesport, Pennsylvania, quietly departed this life Thursday, June 1, 2017 in VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System University Drive Campus.

Born April 26, 1933 in Charleston, SC, son of the late Isaiah, Sr. and Evelyn Aiken Chavis; He was also preceded in death by son, Bruce Chavis and brother, James Chavis.

Isaiah was a former employee of US Steel National Tube and also worked for Walker’s Vending. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War Era, where he received the Korean Service Medal with four service stars and served as a former commander of Henry C. Williams American Legion Post #666.

Left to cherish his memory are two sons, Isaiah Chavis, III of Philadelphia, Lawrence (Nadine) Moody of Glennville, GA; eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Wright of Charleston, SC, and Ethel Bivins of TN; sister-in-law, Nancy Chavis of McKeesport; companion Georgette Williams of Clairton; nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of loving friends.

Friends will be received Monday, June 5, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 pm at the Robert A. Waters Funeral Home, Inc., 2326 Jenny Lind Street, McKeesport, Pennsylvania, where services will be held Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at 11:00 am with Pastor Jonathan Robinson officiating.

Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, Pennsylvania.
