Carl O. Pirl Sr., 92, of North Huntingdon, passed away Monday, June 12, 2017.

He was born December 24, 1924, in Duquesne, PA, a son of the late William and Icey Miller Pirl.  Prior to his retirement, Carl was a welder for Morrison Metal Weld,  a veteran of the Navy having served in WWII and the longest living member of the VFW Post 781 Irwin.  He enjoyed hunting and loved spending time in the garden and his dogs, Seneca and Molly.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty L. Sam Pirl.  He is survived by his two sons, Carl Jr and his wife, Cheryl and Scott D.; two daughters, Lorraine Watson (Nelson King) and Kimberlee Roberts and her husband, David; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.  Friends will be received at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon, PA on Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.  A funeral service will take place on Thursday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.  Interment will follow in Long Run Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Animal Friends of Westmoreland, Youngwood, PA.  www.shirleyfuneralhome.com.
