Gerda (Schwarz) Kvasnak, 81, of Elizabeth, passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2016 in Mt. Vernon of Elizabeth. She was a former saleswoman at Elizabeth Milling, a member of Ascension of Our Lord Byzantine Catholic Church in Clairton and the S.N.P.J. Club in Herminie.

Born May 10, 1934 in Bratislava, Slovakia, she was a daughter of the late Johann and Matilda (Burdoch) Schwarz. She is survived by her husband, George D. Kvasnak, whom she married on June 16, 1953 in Germany; daughter, Lynn Metheney of Lincoln Boro; grandchildren, Jonathan Kvasnak of Elizabeth and Daniella Weber of Germany; sister, Gerlinda (Wolfgang) Eiberle of Germany; daughter in law, Ruth Kvasnak of Lincoln Boro; sister in law, Laverne Thompson of Florence, SC; also nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Martin J. Kvasnak. Friends will be received in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, 221 N. 2nd. Ave., Elizabeth, PA 15037 (412-384-4344) on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at 12 Noon in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jude Urso officiating.
