Ernest Robert McGinty, Sr., 72, of North Versailles died Wednesday February 24, 2016. He was born September 18, 1943 in Port Vue and was the son of the late Vincent and Esther Olson McGinty. He was retired from A.J. Demor and Sons and had previously worked for the Limbaugh Co. Ernest was a US Army Veteran and had served in Germany during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Port Vue American Legion and the Pitcairn-Monroeville Sportsman's Club, Inc.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia May Kidston McGinty, sons, Ernest Robert (Monica) McGinty, Jr., of Exton and Brian Patrick (Abigail) McGinty of Pittsburgh, sisters Norma Jean Paul of Port Vue and Jacquelyn Derr of Liberty Borough, grandchildren, Hannah Michelle McGinty and Ashley Madison McGinty, cousin, Karen Andrascik of Elizabeth Township, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Nathlene M. Diehl and brother, Vincent "Jake" McGinty. Friends are welcome Saturday, February 27 from 6-8 pm and Sunday February 28 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township. Services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Monday, February 29, at 11:00 am with The Rev. Jody Dausey, officiating. Entombment with Military Honors will follow at the Mount Vernon Cemetery Garden Mausoleum, Elizabeth Township.
