John F. Klingensmith, Jr., age 83 of Greenock, passed away at home on Sunday, March 13, 2016.  Born July 16, 1932 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late John F. Klingensmith, Sr., and Elsie "Daisy" (Thomas) Klingensmith.  The owner of Klingensmith Insurance Company (founded in 1965) and the John Klingensmith Real Estate Agency, both of Versailles, John was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in White Oak and a US Army Veteran of the Korean War.

He was a member of the South Hills Senior Softball League, the Free and Accepted Masons Aliquippa Lodge, past president of the Downtown McKeesport Association, and active in golf and softball.  John was a fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and was a team sponsor of the McKeesport Daily News Baseball League.  John was preceded in death by his wife Marlene (Putz) Klingensmith, who died May 14, 2005, and his siblings: Edgar Klingensmith, Jeanette Minnick, Norma Barncord, and Carole Murray.  He is survived by his daughter Niki Klingensmith of Greenock, son Jack (Bonnie) Klingensmith of Mt. Vernon, grandsons Jack, IV and Joseph Klingensmith, and also nieces and nephews.  Friends will be received in the Daniel F. Bekavac Funeral Home and Crematory on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 from 6 to 8 PM and Wednesday, March 16, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM.  A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at 10 AM with Rev. Michael Ryan officiating.  Procession and burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Elizabeth Township.
