Obituaries | The Tube City Almanac | August 24, 2018

Brenda Marie Hood, 68, of McKeesport was called home to meet her heavenly father while in the loving care of her sister-law, Denine Hood on Sunday August 19, 2018. She was born on January 4, 1950 in Braddock, PA to the late Willie James and Josephine Rogers Hood at Braddock Hospital.

Tiny accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at the age of 17 at her home church, Jerusalem Baptist Church of Duquesne, PA. She was an active member of the Pulpit Guild at Jerusalem and taught Sunday school to the young children there. She was a warrior for Christ and continued to march and praise for the glory of her God throughout the rest of her life.

She graduated from Duquesne High School in 1968. Tiny attended Berkeley School of Business which is now Bradford School of Business and graduated in 1970 with an Associate’s Degree in Business.

Tiny worked for Alcoa and retired after 20 years. Once retired, the Lord’s work for her had just begun. Tiny’s love and compassion for people was so pure that she proceeded to become a foster parent and caregiver for the elderly at Mon Yough Community Services. She was a foster mother for several agencies over the years including Kadie Services, Allegheny East, Children Youth Services, Circle C and Auberle. Tiny also was a Girl Scout leader in 1997, a volunteer at The Creative Convention (Woodland Hills School District), and worked for the post office in Giant Eagle of White Oak, PA for 9 years.

Tiny’s absolute favorite pastime was shopping followed by modeling top fashion trends, traveling, horseback riding, and she had a strong passion for writing. Her favorite color was red and she loved butterflies and angels. She found strength from her family and friends and absolutely loved being surrounded by them. Tiny had a great sense of humor and could make us all laugh without even knowing how funny she really was.

Tiny was a loving mother, sister, aunt, sister-in-law and friend. She had a spirit of unconditional kindness and showed love to everyone. She had a passion for children and a calmness that only a mother would know. Tiny would give the clothes off her back, shoes off her feet and a bag to carry them away in.

Tiny was preceded in death by her brother Jim Hood. Her memory will forever live on and be cherished by those who knew and loved her deeply. She is survived by her daughter Talaysha Hood, brother Gregory Hood (Renee), sister-in-law Denine Hood, nieces Nicole Wells (Cliff), Dione Hood, Halima Hood, Courtney Hood, Cynthia Coates, Wanda Ali, and Janet Weaver (Gerald), nephews Wesley Neal, Max Duvall, Gregory Hood, Michael Worthy, best friend Carol Sanders and a host of family and friends

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Aug. 24 at Tunie Funeral Home, Inc., 218 E. 11th Ave., Homestead. Service will be held at 11 a.m. Aug. 25 at Jerusalem Baptist Church, 12 S. 5th St., Duquesne. Interment will follow at 1 p.m. Aug. 25 at Monongahela Cemetery, 1111 4th St., North Braddock.
