Rosa Marie Fontanesi, age 98 of McKeesport, PA passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2018 in Chesterton, IN. She was born on December 29, 1920 in McKeesport, PA to Areste Demo Rubizzi and Saffo (Brugnoli) Rubizzi.

Rosa is survived by daughters, Denise (Richard) Wolfe of Elizabeth, PA and Tia (Lanier) Chiesi of Chesterton, IN; grandchildren, Jake (Susan) Wolfe, Eric (Ellen) Wolfe, Lanier (Denyse Leady) Chiesi and Dr. Camron Chiesi; great grandchildren, Ava Marie Chiesi, Audrey Wolfe, Toby Wolfe, Ben Wolfe and Annie Wolfe. She was preceded in death by her parents, Saffo and Areste Demo Rubizzi; first husband, Raymond G. Carnahan (killed in action WWII) and husband, John Fontanesi; sister, Betty (Glen) Alberts; and brothers, James (Elvira) Rubizzi and Eugene (Ruth) Rubizzi.

Rosa was a Dental Assistant for Dr. Shelton and Dr. Tremont. She also worked for the National Tube Steel Mill and as a Rosie the Riveter during World War II. She was a member of Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church, Sutersville Sportsman Club, Shaner Sportsman Club, Elizabeth Township Senior Citizens, Elizabeth Senior Bowling League and Senior Life Span Club in Boston. She was a friend to all and actively participated in trapshooting, bowling, golfing, hunting (yes, she bagged a buck), fishing, camping and her beloved Pymatuning trailer retreat. Rosa was known for cooking and baking, especially her homemade bread and noodles and donating them to the church and her friends. She was an avid gardener. Growing from seeds, she canned her prized tomatoes and peppers. Rosa was a loyal friend and a wonderful daughter, wife and mother.   

There will be a visitation on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at James C. Stump Funeral Home Inc., 580 Circle Drive, Rostraver Township, PA (724-929-7934) www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com. Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Arrangements were handled in Indiana by Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN 46304.
