James Herrington "Jim"  Ramsey, Jr., 78, of Boston, passed away Tuesday, December 25, 2018.  He was born September 8, 1940 in Braddock and was the son of the late James Herrington Ramsey Sr. and Virginia Appell Ramsey. Jim was a graduate of PIA and loved planes, going for walks at Mingo Creek Park and small game hunting with his brother, Duke.   He worked for the former Mackintosh Hemphill Company for many years and would later retire from the produce department at  Giant Eagle at the Homestead Waterfront. Jim was an avid shooter and a proud NRA Benefactor and a member of the Clairton Sportsman Club. He was also an assistant scout master with boy scout troop 99, a former Elder in The Buena Vista Presbyterian Church, the first assistant Chief of the former Boston Vol. Fire Co, as well as fire police for Elizabeth Township,  and a life member of the Greenock Vol. Fire Co.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years,  Sandra L. Frank Ramsey, sisters, Antoinette "Toni" (the late Walter) Bittner of West Mifflin, and Joy (David) Shussett of Oakland, CA brother, Lucien P. "Duke" (the late Jeanie) Ramsey of West Mifflin, step-sister, Mary (Russell) Brignano of Point Breeze, brother-in-law, Judd Crosby of Murrysville, nieces, Amy, Michelle, and Jordan, nephews, Chris, Scott and Jay, great- nieces, Courtney, Ciersten and Haven, great-nephew, Cory and great-great nieces, Gabriella and Gracie.   Friends are welcome on Thursday, December 27, from 4-8 pm & Friday, December 28, from 2-4 and 6-8 at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 6028 Smithfield Street Boston, Elizabeth Township (412) 751-5000  Drew J. Gilbert, Director.   Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, December 29 at 10:00 am with Rev. Paul Walter,  officiating.  Interment will follow at the Jefferson Memorial Park, Pleasant Hills. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at The Grove in Irwin, the staff and Dr. Kane at The Hillman Center in UPMC McKeesport, and the staff and Dr. Campagna at Kane Regional in McKeesport for their excellent care of Jim.  Condolences may be made at Gilbertfuneralhomeandcrematory.com
