Betty Lou Carter Fort, 85 of Clairton, Pennsylvania, passed away on Sunday, February 3, 2019 in Riverside Care Center.

She was born January 25, 1934 in Clairton, daughter of the late Clarence and Ethel Grandy Carter.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Lee Fort and her siblings, Dora Lee Walker, Violet Tate, Rudolph Carter, Delores Walker, and Russell Carter.

She was an active and vital member of Mt. Olive First Baptist Church, where she was the Organist, Pianist, Choir Director and directed and played for the Morning Star Baptist Church Male Chorus.  She also served on the Usher Board and the Calendar Committee.  Betty played for many of the events for many of the churched in the City of Clairton.  After many years of service, she retired from the United States Postal Service.

Survivors include her son, Brett Fort of McKeesport; two grandchildren; sister, Ardele Carter-Thomas of Rosedale, NY; brother, Larry B. Carter of Clairton; sister-in-law, Esther Jarret; brother-in-law, Terry Fort, nieces, nephews, cousins and many who called her a friend.

Friends will be received on Thursday, February 7, 2019 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Mt. Olive First Baptist Church, 451 Park Avenue, Clairton, Pennsylvania, where services will be held on Friday, February 8, 2019 at 11:00 am with Rev. Dr. William C. Callaway officiating.

Interment will follow in the Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth, Pennsylvania.
