Frances I. (Vay) Semow, age 87, of Elizabeth Twp., passed away on Monday, February 25, 2019 at The Gardens of Lincoln Court in North Versailles. She was a former member of St. Michael Parish in Elizabeth Twp.

Born December 1, 1931 in Elizabeth, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Helen (Supernovich) Vay and wife of the late Philip J. Semow. Unceasingly curious, Frances was an avid reader, loved good food and company, listening to music, dancing, volunteering at Jefferson Hospital, and spending time with family. Her sincere and life-long love of caring for others was extraordinary. Countless family members, friends, neighbors, and acquaintances were blessed with her strong-willed, empathetic and compassionate nature. She made friends everywhere she went. Frances was proud of the accomplishments of her son, daughter-in-law, nephews, nieces, and granddaughters and was always available with encouraging words and advice, sacrificing what she could, to ensure their success. Frances was a master homemaker in the kitchen and her meals and desserts were enjoyed by many. Most of all she loved her son and instilled in him strong values that have served him well. She is survived by son, Scott (Tracy) Semow of Greensburg; granddaughters, Grace and Audrey Semow; sister, Virginia (John "JR") Straub of Elizabeth Twp.; and brother, Adolph (Darlene) Vay of Elizabeth Twp.; also, nieces, nephews, loved ones and neighbors. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Madalene Vay. There will be a Memorial Mass on Friday, May 3, 2019 at 10 AM at St. Michael Parish with Fr. Thomas Wagner officiating. PLEASE ARRIVE AT CHURCH BY 9:30 AM. Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to the ViaQuest Hospice Foundation, 525 Metro Place North, Suite 300, Dublin, Ohio 43017. Arrangements by the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, Elizabeth.
