Obituaries | The Tube City Almanac | April 10, 2020

Helen M. Campbell, age 92 of Clairton, passed away at home on Friday, April 10, 2020.  Born May 9, 1927 in Oil City, she was a daughter of the late Mike and Mary (Kislan) Wasko.  A member of Ascension of Our Lord Byzantine Catholic Church, Helen was a graduate of the former California Teachers College (now California University of Pennsylvania) and retired as an art teacher for Clairton School District.  At home, she always made everyone feel welcome, whether in her own home or her cottage at Conneaut Lake.  Helen would gladly offer to help anyone in the family who needed it: whether it was an ear to listen, a shoulder to cry on, or help to get started in life.  She was so loved and will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched.

Besides her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband William E. Campbell, who passed away June 24, 2011; her grandson Jeremy Arnold, who passed away November 7, 2013, and her sisters Mary Hurny, Dorothy Plavchak, and Mildred Kozloski.  She is survived by her daughter Susanne Arnold (James Eichler) of Clairton; her grandsons Matthew (Jessica) and Jeffrey Arnold, both of Clairton; her seven great-grandchildren; her great-great-grandchildren; her sister Barbara Laszacs of Arizona; and also nieces and nephews.  Funeral services for Helen will be held privately with burial to follow in Ascension Cemetery, Clairton.  Memorial contributions in Helen's name should be made to the Clairton School District's Chromebook Fund Drive at ccsdbears.org/News/chromebook-drive to help students continue their education at home in this difficult time.  Arrangements by the A.J. Bekavac Funeral Home, 555 5th. St., Clairton, PA 15025 (412-233-5700) www.bekavacfuneralhome.com
