Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory

Obituaries | The Tube City Almanac | June 08, 2020

Lena J. (Bellini) Mamajek, age 92, of McKeesport, passed away peacefully at home on June 6, 2020. Born May 25, 1928, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Carmine and Lini (Pascuizzo) Bellini and wife of the late John C. Mamajek.

Lena was a maker who could sew, knit, crochet, and cook. If Lena was not cooking her famous noodle soups, reading a Danielle Steel book, or crocheting “doilies,” you would certainly find Lena spending time with her loving family. A literal energizer bunny with the kindest soul and a beautiful smile. A smile that she wore every day for 92 years, no matter a day's circumstances. Lena retired from Carnegie Mellon University as a baker and was a former member of St. Patrick Church in McKeesport. Lena was survived by her children, Rosella (Walter) Switalski of Elizabeth, John R. (Judi) Mamajek of Whitehall, Paul C. Mamajek of McKeesport, and Thomas A. Mamajek (late-life partner Kirk A. Patton) of White Oak; grandchildren, Jennifer Mamajek of Houston, TX and Julianna Mamajek of Pittsburgh; siblings, Mary and Jean Bellini of Scott Township; Carl Bellini of Florida, many nieces and nephews; and grand fur babies Bella, Rosie, Lucy, Greta, and Coco. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Joseph Bellini, Anthony Bellini, Josephine Giovenazzo, and Carmine Bellini. Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. Burial immediately after service at Calvary Cemetery in Pittsburgh. All visitors must wear a mask upon arriving. Memories and condolences may be shared at www.jaycox-jaworksi.com
