Billy E. Sturkie, age 83 of Versailles, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at UPMC McKeesport. Born January 15, 1937 in Swansea, SC, he was the son of the late Eugene and Lucille Sturkie. He worked as a union carpenter in Pittsburgh and was a member of the former Versailles Borough Lions Club. Billy survived by his wife Clare (Kubensky) Sturkie; son Billy Sturkie, Jr. of Versailles; daughters Chris Richards of Versailles, Lorie (Dave) Broadwater of West Mifflin, and Jessica (Jason) Lorenz of Versailles; grandchildren Tim Simko, Amy Shank, Lacey John, Amanda Miller, and Tadem and Tierney Lorenz; eleven great-grandchildren; siblings Bobbie (Royce) Cassidy, John (Ruby) Sturkie, and Rudy Sturkie, all of South Carolina. In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his brother Jimmy Sturkie.

Friends will be received at the Daniel F. Bekavac Funeral Home and Crematory, 4504 Walnut St., Versailles Borough, McKeesport, PA 15132 (412-678-3454) on Thursday, August 6, 2020 from 2 PM to 4 PM and 6 PM until a 7:30 PM Blessing in the funeral home with Fr. Joseph Beck officiating. Only twenty-five people will be permitted at a time; masks are required; CDC and State guidelines will be observed; and social distancing will be enforced on funeral home property.
