Patricia (King) Barker age 88, on August 11, 2020, at home, surrounded by her loving family. “Patsy,” as she was affectionately called by her family was the “queen,” and everyone she met knew about her big family. She worked for Bell Telephone for 42 years as a Directory Assistance Operator. She was Past President of the GFWC Women’s Club of Duquesne, Girl Scout leader and Democratic Committee member. She was an avid shopper…QVC and HSN knew her by name. She loved to travel with her husband and family, and especially her trips to Hawaii, Mexico, Ireland, and numerous cruises to the Virgin Islands. Patsy loved eating out at fancy restaurants, a good superburger at Eat ‘n Park, and being pampered at the spa. But most of all, she loved spending time with family and celebrating holidays with the people who she loved.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband William “Punch” Barker; son, William G. Barker; parents Bart & Ethel King; siblings William, James, and Richard King, Elizabeth Kincaid and Janet Pavlot; In-Laws Albert & Janet Barker; brothers-in -law Albert, Bob, Ted, Jim, and Dewayne (Pete); and sister-in-law Velma “Toots” Whitney. She is survived by her loving children Mary Ann (Richard) Dobos, Wayne (Georgia) Barker, Jean Marie (Dr. John) Swade; daughter-in-law Dee Barker; loving brothers and sister, Bart (Sue) King, John (Bettijean) King, Mary Ann (Rege) Kearns, Peter (Carol) King, and Gerard (Ann) King; sister-in-law of Elaine King, John Pavlot, Janet (Earl) Oyler, Margaret Ann Barker and Marilyn Barker; loving grandchildren Jessica (Russell) Musgrove, Sara Lang, Laura (Sean) Fessenden, Bethany Barker, Brooke (Jamon) Chavis, Billy John Barker, Milan (Haley) Barker, Jenna Barker and Morris (Ashley) Southern Jr.; loving great grandchildren Tahlya, Solomon, Mikayla, Juliana, Margaux, Ethan, Elonna, Brooklyn, Madison, Ashlyn, and Jamon II; expecting her first great great grandchild in Aug. 2020; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 14, 2020 from 2-8 p.m. at the MALOY-SCHLEIFER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 915 KENNEDY AVE., DUQUESNE, 15110, 412-466-3300, where a blessing service will be held on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Church, Duquesne at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Thomas Dansak officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, 1 N. Linden St., Duquesne, PA 15110. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, visitation will be limited to 25 people in the funeral home at one time and masks must be worn.
