Filbert N. Benevento, age 81, of North Huntingdon, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at his home.

He was born December 14, 1934 in North Braddock, a son of the late Frank and Isotta (Capaccione). He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, North Huntingdon. Mr. Benevento was a graduate of Scott High School and Indiana University of Pa. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving aboard the USS Worcester from 1955-1957. He worked for the Federal Government for more than 30 years, beginning as an Investigator in charge of Huntington, W.Va and Newport News, Va . Then he was Executive Director of the Pittsburgh Federal Executive Board, responsible for implementing presidential initiatives in the Greater Pittsburgh area. He was also a management instructor while serving as Executive Director. After retirement from the federal government, he served as Judge of Elections in Westmoreland County. He was a member of ISDA for more than 30 years, enjoyed playing golf with his friends from the Mulligans Golf Club, and tending to watering his garden. Preceding him in death is one brother Frank. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Karen Santacasa; daughters, Tina Walcutt , Denise Hutchison (Michael); son, Anthony (Deneen); brother, Fiore (Dorothy Jean); sister, Virginia Rossetti; sister-in-law, Sandra Benevento; proud grandfather of 8, Jacob, Anthony, Joseph, Shane, Maria, Jason, Connor and Leah. Friends will be received at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon Thurs 6-8 p.m., Fri 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.. Funeral Mass Sat 10.a.m., St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church with Father Len Stoviak officiating. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery in North Versailles. www.shirleyfuneralhome.com.
