Robert M. Morris, 90, of North Huntingdon, passed peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021.
Bob is deeply missed by his wife of 57 years, Agnes (Minnaji) Morris, daughter Susan M. Morris and husband William H. Maruca, two cherished grandchildren Julia and Jack Maruca of Wexford, and son Greg Morris of Irwin.
Bob was born July 21, 1930 in Youngwood to the late John William and Stella May (Fox) Morris. Bob served in Company B, 179th Infantry Regiment of the US Army during the Korean Conflict, most notably the summer of 1953 campaign. He was a tractor trailer driver and very proud of his safe driving record with B&P Motor Freight and United Parcel Service. Bob was active with Teamsters Local 30 and served on various committees.
He is survived by sisters Lois Prinkey-Clark and Donna Porterfield of Youngwood, brother Jack Morris of Louisiana; sisters-in-law Eleanor Morris of Tennessee, Ann Morris of Maryland, Alice Morris and Clara Morris of Greensburg, plus many nieces and nephews with fond memories of their “Uncle Bob.”
He was the tenth of 14 children and was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Viola Morris, Ida May (Gene) Baker, Helen (Glenn) McGinnis, Margaret (Melvin) Wilson, Ruth (Merle) Love, Dorothy (Charles) Boggs; and brothers William, Charles, Ronald, and James Richard Morris.
After retirement Bob loved traveling across the country with his wife Aggie in their customized conversion van, and owned several during his lifetime. He proudly maintained his home of 57 years, cutting his own grass on a riding mower until he was 89 years old. Bob enjoyed Steelers football, Penguins hockey, wood-working, paint-by-number and latchhook rug kits, and camping with son Greg. His two grandchildren meant the world to him and he treasured every moment they had together. His fierce cat Rusty and grand-dog Boris also miss him very much.
Bob bravely bore struggles with trigeminal neuralgia and COPD for decades. His family is grateful to Matthew D'Onofrio MD and his practice, and most recently to Hempfield Manor for their compassionate care.
Memorial donations may be made in Bob’s name to DePaul School for Hearing and Speech, 6202 Alder Street Pittsburgh, PA 15206-4389.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Shirley Funeral Home, North Huntingdon. A public visitation will be held on Thursday, March 4 from 10 – 12:00 PM, followed by a brief blessing service at noon at the funeral home. Private interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery in Braddock Hills. The family will host a memorial reception when pandemic gathering restrictions are eased.
