Charles John Kurta, Jr., 79, of Boston, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, July 29, 2021. He was born May 20, 1942 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Charles and Elizabeth "Betty" (Matta) Kurta, Sr. He was retired from the Glassport Generator Repair Shop and was a member of the West Mifflin American Legion Post 712. Charles served in the Vietnam War in the Army Rangers. For his service he was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Sharpshooter (Rifle M-14) Citation.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Beverly (Fisher) Kurta, sons, James (Shannon) Kurta of Belle Vernon, and Charles Kurta, III., of Boston, grandchildren, Jillian and Andrew Kurta, brother, Andrew (Denise) Kurta of The Villages, FL, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tanya Sue Kurta. Friends are welcome Tuesday, August 3, 2021 from 2-6 pm  at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township. (412) 751-5000 Drew J. Gilbert, director.
