Hers was a life well lived, full of love for her husband and family. Her husband was her best friend, and their love is eternal. Her love, kindness, compassion, wit, strength, and invaluable advice will be greatly missed. She will live on forever in heaven and in our hearts. In her husbands’ words, “she was a good friend, the best friend I really had, and I will always miss her”. Joann is survived by her husband Jack, her soul mate of 65 years; five children Marcia (William) Rhoades, Valerie (Paul) Lucas, Vincent (Denise) Geary, Jacqueline (Jered Leber) Silberman, and Michael (Helen) Geary; five grand-children Ryan (Laura) Rhoades, Sarah (Richard) Stevey, Rebecca (Christopher) Havrilla, Megan (Michael) Brown, and Justin (Kristy Shearer) Geary; three great-grandchildren Jackson, Jacob, and Jayla Stevey; siblings Eugene (Bonnie) Cottone, Mary Ann (Bob) Melani, and Robert (Cindy) Cottone; twenty nieces and nephews, and many great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings Anthony (Janet) Cottone, Frank (Dinka) Cottone, Carmel (William) Donnelly, and James Cottone. Friends are welcome Tuesday, October 5, 2021 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 1638 Lincoln Way, White Oak. (412) 672-6322 Troy J. Gilbert, director. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at 10:30 am at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, 407 Shaw Avenue, McKeesport. The Rev. Donald Voss will officiate.
