Roy Slack Leffard, 90, of McKeesport and Ligonier, passed away Friday, August 19, 2016 at UPMC McKeesport Hospital.

He was born March 29, 1926 in Glassport, PA, son of the late James Gardner and Hilda Erickson Leffard.  He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Coulter, PA and was a veteran of the US Navy having served in WWII as a prize crewman.  Prior to his retirement, he was a teacher for White Oak Elementary School, Williamsport High School, East McKeesport High School, Monongahela High School and McKeesport High School.  He coached football and basketball, and was athletic director at McKeesport High School from 1969 to 1974.  He was president of Duquesne Basketball Officials Organization in 1973, president of PA Athletic Directors Association, and was an avid member of the Dart Ball team at Christie Park United Methodist Church.  He was a member of East McKeesport Lodge No. 765, Ligonier Lodge No. 331, Hardly Ables Golf Group at Butlers Golf Course and Boy Scouts of America, member of the Order of the Arrow and Assistant Troop Leader.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, James Gardner Leffard II; three brothers, Walter, Albert and Robert Slack; and sister, Lorraine Kohl.  He is survived by his loving wife, Maxine Moday Leffard; daughter, Elaine Dodd and her husband, Brian;  daughter-in-law Maxine Leffard; four grandchildren, Christina (Sean) Sechrist, Lauren (Justin) Yeager, Kayleigh and Megan Dodd; great-granddaughter, Alexandra Yeager. Friends will be received at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon, PA on Monday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday  at 10 a.m. in St. Angela Merici Church, White Oak. Interment in McKeesport-Versailles Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the East McKeesport Lodge 765, 1200 Clonmel St., East McKeesport, PA  15110,  Ligonier Lodge 331, 104 W.
