Verla Elizabeth Piper, 88, of Elizabeth Township, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, January 1, 2022. She was born February 9, 1933 in Elizabeth and was the daughter of the late Bryan and Sarah (Doyle) McCurry. She was the wife of the late William "Bill" Francis Piper who passed away December 1, 2016. She was a member of Sts. Joachim and Anne Parish- St. Michael Church, Elizabeth Township, Elizabeth Township Senior Citizens and was a volunteer at Meals On Wheels and the Central Food Pantry. Verla and her late husband Bill loved to Square Dance.

She is survived by her sons, William B. (Betsy) Piper and Barry (Cathy) Piper of Elizabeth Township, daughters, Lynn (Kenneth) Jones of Elizabeth Township and Susan (William) Boucher and Kathy (Arnold) Shaner of Elizabeth, grandchildren, Shawn, Eric, Amanda, Ian, Megan, Melissa, Kenny, Chris, Laura, Luke, William, Hannah, Quinton, and Allison, great-grandchildren, Evan, Ethan, Caleb, Isabella, Olivia, Ella, Clara, Owen, Celia, Kennedy, Daniel and Tobias, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Duane "Sonny", Regis, William and Bernard McCurry and sisters, LaVerne O'Donnelle and Romaine Riggs. Friends are welcome Tuesday, January 4, 2022 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 6028 Smithfield street, Boston, Elizabeth Township. (412) 751-5000 Drew J.
