Robert A. Martin, 91 of North Huntingdon, died peacefully September 5, 2016 in Forbes Regional Hospital, Monroeville, PA. He was born September 5, 1925 in Swissvale, PA, a son of the late Mervyn and Verda Martin. Prior to retirement, he was employed for 32 years as a Management Engineer in the U.S. Steel Corporation in McKeesport and Duquesne, PA.

Mr. Martin was a licensed, Registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania. As such, he was active in several prominent engineering organizations that include the National and Pennsylvania Societies of Professional Engineers, Association of Iron and Steel Engineers, Air Force Association and the Planetary Society.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was protestant by faith.
Mr. Martin is survived by his wife LaDorna Lee Martin and their two sons;, Thomas and Jeffrey and wife Deborah; three children of a prior marriage, Gary and his wife Terry, Linda and Kathy; a sister Lillian Kelley; ten grandchildren and one great grandchild. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was a sister, Jayne Hamilton.
Friends will be received at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home in North Huntingdon on Thursday September 8, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 9, 2016 in the funeral home chapel. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Penn Lincoln Memorial Park, North Huntingdon. The family suggests contributions to Allegheny Health Network Hospice and Palliative Care Program, 4818 Liberty Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15224.
