Mary Ann Rakochy, age 86 of Clairton, passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2019 in Overlook Green Senior Living in Whitehall.  Born July 22, 1933 in Clairton, she was a daughter of the late Mitro and Mary J. (Makuh) Rakochy and last surviving sibling of the late Mike Wagel, Margaret McGuiness, Ann Bernhard, John Rakochy, and Helen Glegyak.  Mary Ann was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish in Clairton and retired after 53 years as an office clerk for the City of Clairton.  She is survived by nieces and nephews.  Friends will be received in the A.J. Bekavac Funeral Home, 555 5th. Paul L. Gala, 55, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2019. He was in the presence of his loving family. Paul was diagnosed with gastric cancer in May of 2018. Facing his foe with unwavering courage and dignity, Paul spent the last 19 months making indelible memories with his beloved wife and children. Paul was born on March 16, 1964 in Elizabeth Township, PA to the late Charles and Margaret Gala. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1986 and the following year, his MBA from the Katz Graduate School of Business. Paul dedicated 30 years to IBM as a business executive and market leader and most recently, 2 years as the Senior Director of Sales Operations at Blackboard.

Frances Marie "Fran" Shultz age 87, of Duquesne, on December 3, 2019 at Kane Regional Medical Center, McKeesport, PA after a long battle of Alzheimer's disease. She was born in Clariton, PA to the late Robert and Bertha (Veitch) Tachoir. She was a home maker and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Duquesne, PA. She enjoyed plastic canvas crafting, word search puzzles, bingo and reading Chicken Soup for the Soul books, as well as family time. She is survived by her children, Paul L. “Larry” Shultz of Duquesne, Kenneth W. Shultz of Alexandria, LA, Robert D. Shultz of Duquesne, Daniel A. (Linda) Shultz of Duquesne, Cathy J. (William) Leonard of Holly Springs, NC and Maryanne Shultz of Orlando, FL; grandmother of William Leonard, Jr., Jonathon Shultz, John Paul Leonard, Brittney Shultz and Danielle Matta; great-grandmother of J.R. Shultz, Joey Matta, and August Olivia Leonard. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Paul “Iggy” Shultz who passed away in 2011; also brothers and sisters, Leo Forrest, Thomas, Patrick, Jacques, Joseph, Lois White, Agnes Rushe and Catherine Odoski; and many nieces and nephews. Bernard A. “Ace” Curran age 93, of Duquesne, on December 3, 2019. he was a son of the late Joseph and Catherine (McNally) Curran. He was a retired CORE maker from Fort Pitt Steel in Christy Park. He was a member of Christ the Light of the World Parish in Duquesne, the former owner of the former Duquesne Taxi Cab company in the 50s. He loved to garden and enjoyed music. He and his late wife were avid fans of Duquesne High School Sports and were strong supporters of the city of Duquesne, and would attend all the council meetings. He proudly served his country in the Navy during WWII. Husband of 45 years to the late Anna M. (Bogacik) Curran; father of the late Bernard Michael Curren; brother of the late Joseph Curran, Catherine, William Curran, Margaret and Ellen Ann. Makara, 92, of North Huntingdon, passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2019.  She was born October 31, 1927 in Homestead, a daughter of the late Andrew and Anna Horkavy.  Prior to her retirement, Evelyn was a registered nurse and a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Makara; daughter, Cynthia Stevens; sisters, Lillian Dillabaugh and Irene Ingham.  She is survived by her sons, Robert Makara and his wife, Elizabeth, Richard Makara and his wife, Susan, Ronald Makara and Raymond Makara; daughter, Ellen Woomer; son-in-law, Frank Stevens; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.  Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the James W. Colleen (Harkcom) Wilson, North Huntingdon Township, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2019, and at the time of her death was a resident of Walden's View Personal Care, Irwin.  Colleen was born in Somerset, Pa., on March 17, 1937, a daughter of Dorse Harkcom and Rosalind (Walker) Harkcom.  Colleen attended the Somerset Area Schools, and graduated from Somerset High School in the class of 1955.  Colleen had various places of employment during her lifetime, and last worked at Thrift Drug Store where she was employed for approximately 18 years.  On December 27, 1966 in Bentleyville, Pa., Colleen married Lawrence M. Wilson who passed away on March 27, 2019.  Colleen and her late husband were active members of Christian Life Church in Trafford.  Colleen is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and in-laws.  During her last illness, Colleen was assisted by members of her congregation, her Pastors, and was helped in every sense of the word by her good friend, Cheryl Sturm.  Arrangements are under the supervision of James W. Frank Vlasic, age 88 of Elizabeth Twp., passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2019 at Mt. Vernon of Elizabeth Assisted Living.   Born May 27, 1931 in Yugoslavia, he was the son of the late John and Ana (Bogovic) Vlasic.  A retired steelworker for US Steel - National Tube Works in McKeesport, he joins his wife, the late Dorothy Jane (Vugrincic) Vlasic, who passed away September 3, 2018.  Frank lived in White Oak for almost 50 years before having to give up his beloved home and yard where he loved to spend his days outside cutting grass, planting flowers or working on cars. Frank was an active member of CFU Lodge 146 in Versailles for more than 60 years. Frank will always be remembered for his strong work ethic, his outgoing personality, willingness to always lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it and of being a proud Croatian!  His heritage meant everything to him and he never hesitated to tell anyone who would listen how he was Croatian and then would try to teach them his native language.
