James E. Hammonds, Sr., 79, was born April 15, 1941, in Ashford, Alabama. He was the beloved son of the late William and Bloomie Rivers Hammonds. James departed this life on April 1, 2021, at his home in Clairton, PA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Daryl Haines Hammonds, and two sons, Edward and William “Billie” Hammonds.
James worked as a laborer in the construction industry. He was a former boxer and also enjoyed driving. James is survived by his three sons, Clifford Marise (Christie) Hammonds of Elizabeth, James Hammonds, Jr. of Pittsburgh, Richard Allen Hammonds of McKeesport; daughter, Carla Denise Hammonds of New Castle; 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; two brothers, William “Ditty” Hammonds, Charles Hammonds, both of Clairton; nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.

Lynn Kocur, 68, passed away April 2, 2021 in Warminster, PA, formerly of West Mifflin, PA. She was born on September 2, 1952 in McKeesport, PA She is the daughter of the late John and Rose (Bacsi) Simo and beloved wife of the late Ernest Kocur. Lynn is survived by her son John (Renee) Kocur; grandchildren Ryan and Avery and sister Sandra (Erwin) Vettel. Lynn worked as a secretary at Bettis and was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Duquesne. Friends will be received at Teichart-Gracan Funeral Home, Duquesne, on Friday from 10 am to Noon, at which time a funeral service will be held with Pastor John Gropp. Interment following Jefferson Memorial Park.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, John A. Boberg; three daughters – Christine and Mike Driscoll of North Versailles, Melissa and Matt McBride of Cleveland, Ohio, Patricia and Brian Dudley of North Huntingdon; six grandchildren. Nicolas (Alyssa) Shelley, Devin and Brady Novack and Kendall, Logan and Kayla Dudley.
She just recently became a great-grandmother to sweet baby girl Ryley Shelley and was anxiously anticipating the arrival of her first precious great-grandson Kolsyn Novack.

Darryl D. Granata Sr., age 74, of North Huntingdon, passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2021. He was born September 29, 1946 in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Salvatore and Margaret Granata. He was a longtime member of St. Agnes, and then the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Irwin.
He worked for over 25 years as a loan office at Union National Bank before working the rest of his career at Hamilton Buick in finance, sales and as inventory manager before retiring.
He is survived by his children Darryl (Diane) Granata Jr. of North Huntingdon and Kimberly (Bruce) Jennings of Irwin; grandchildren Jacob (Fiancé Megan Watts) Granata, Brittany (Avery) Sandor, Vicki Jennings, Amber Jennings, Christopher (fiancé Lauryn Gianotti) Granata; Dominic Granata and Olivia Granata; great granddaughter Aubree; and brother Frank (Joy) Granata of Atlanta, Georgia.

Richard T. "Ricky" Stanoszek, 61, of North Huntingdon passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Good Friday, April 2, 2021, at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Homestead on April 11, 1959, he was the son of Margaret "Midge" (Mihailoff) Stanoszek and the late Theodore "Hambone" Stanoszek. Rick was a self employed painter and proprietor of Rick's Painting and an avid Softball and Basketball player. In addition to his mother, he is also survived by his beloved wife, Diane (Cole) Stanoszek, two loving sons, Cory Stanoszek (Rachel Madden) and Cody Stanoszek (Ashley Harrigan), three sisters, Cindy (Dennis) Mitrik, Diane "DeeDee" Troutman, and Lori (Craig) Skovranko, and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and cousins.

Richard "Dick" Keith Pealstrom, 93, passed away on Tuesday March 30, 2021. He was born in Holland, Michigan on October 11, 1927, but spent the majority of his childhood in Rock Island, Illinois where he graduated from Rock Island Senior High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the Navy in September 1945. He graduated from two Navy radio communications schools and served as a communication technician in radio intelligence both on the island of Guam and at the Naval Intelligence Headquarters in Washington, DC, until his discharge in October, 1948.
After his service, he attended Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois, where he received a BS degree in mathematics and worked as an Admission counselor at the University until his graduation. He then travelled to Wilmerding, PA, where he started working at the Westinghouse Air Brake Company (WABCO). It was here that he met his wife of 65 years, Lois “Audrey” Pealstrom, on a blind date. He retired from WABCO after 35 years as Manager, Advertising & Sales Promotion. He was well known for his creative ad campaign for painting the COBRA brake shoes red, and the Secret Order of the Red Cobra for his sales team.
While employed, he also served on the Board of Directors of the WABCO Federal Credit Union and was elected President of the Association of Railway Advertising Managers, an international organization. Upon retirement, he continued to stay active. He was a founding member of the Board of Directors of the George Westinghouse Museum Foundation and served in several offices for the twenty years of its existence.
He was also a founding elder of the West Hempfield Presbyterian Church, where he was the Chairman of the Building Committee for their first edifice. In recent years, he was able to discuss his Navy work and became a member of the US Naval Cryptologic Veterans Association. Dick and Audrey shared a love of history by volunteering at the Westmoreland County Historical Society where they assisted in organizing and cataloging collections.
In his spare time, he was an avid golfer (shooting his age at age 88), a creative and talented wood-worker, an enthusiastic collector of eagle figurines, and a voracious reader with a love of learning. His family always looked forward to his unique homemade birthday cards and Christmas gifts.

Loving husband, father, grandfather, Dr. Joseph E. Michaels, PhD, age 81, of Whitehall, formerly of Duquesne, passed away at home, on Good Friday, April 2, 2021. Born on October 13, 1939, in Duquesne, he was the son of the late Joseph A. and Margaret T. (Curran) Michaels. Joseph attended Duquesne High School and joined the Navy after graduating. Upon discharge from the Navy, he attended Duquesne University and earned a Bachelor’s degree. He went on to the University of Pittsburgh to earn his Master’s degree and Doctorate in Philosophy (PhD). He was a teacher, dean, and principal for the Pittsburgh Public Schools, most recently Overbrook Elementary and he retired from Spring Garden Elementary. He was active in the Baldwin-Whitehall community in the Baldwin Manor Association, local speaker for the Whitehall library on historical topics, volunteered at the election polls and founded the Whitehall Aviation Modeler Associations. He authored 3 books on aviation aircraft and was an avid photographer who built model airplanes and enjoyed aviation photography.

Robert B. Bentz, age 82, of Elizabeth, died April 1, 2021, at UPMC McKeesport Hospital. Born January 3, 1939, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late William and Hilda (Blank) Bentz and the husband of Shirley (Gatto) Bentz for 62 years.
Robert was the owner of Stan's Transmission for 50 years. He has a passion for racing and shared that passion with his children by taking them to the track with him when they were children. His dedication to racing earned him a place in the Pittsburgh Circle Track Hall of Fame. In addition to his wife, he is survived by children, Robert C. (Janet) Bentz, Thomas J. (Nelly) Bentz, and Susan L. (Tom) DiBiaso; grandchildren, Stacy (Andrew) Stenglein, Lauren (Anthony) Boehm, and James DiBiaso; great-grandchildren, David and Evelyn, and his beloved dog Maggie.
