Herman D. “Ricky” Thompson, age 64, of McKeesport, PA, went home to paradise on Monday, September 18, 2023 in New Castle, PA. He was born in Fairfax, VA on October 10, 1958 and is the son of the late Herman and Emmogene Martin. Herman was employed at the McKeesport Daily News for many years.
He is survived by his son, Kordell Thompson of McKeesport, PA; lifelong partner, Barbara Filotei of McKeesport, PA; brother, Dennis J. Thompson of Pittsburgh, PA; nephew, Sterling Thompson of Clairton, PA; cousins, Sondra Cunningham of McKeesport, PA; Brittany and Dynisti McMillin of McKeesport, PA; loving caregiver, Woody Spell of McKeesport, PA; half-sister, Mary Jo (Julius) Minnick of Duquesne, PA; and very close best friends, Jimmy Davis of McKeesport, PA; Ricky Wiggins of McKeesport, PA; and Chuck Bray of McKeesport, PA.
In addition to his parents Herman was preceded in death by his brothers, Sterling O. Thompson; Donald P. Thompson; grandmother, Grace Pace; uncle, Robert C. McMillin; very close mentor and friend, Thomas Mackson; and best friend, Ronald "Killer" Spence.
Herman was one of a kind and he loved life. The most adored and treasured person in his life was his son, Kordell. He really enjoyed watching him play sports. Herman, his friends, and Kordell watched many sporting games together.
When he was growing up, he loved playing basketball with his lifelong friends at the Crawford Village Recreation Center. They all had a great time growing up.
Herm you will be truly missed.
