Obituaries | The Tube City Almanac | October 07, 2023

Janice “Sib” Ann Weiskircher Hamilton, age 84, of Marietta, GA, formerly of White Oak and North Huntingdon, PA, died on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at her home for the last 7 years in Marietta, GA. She was born in McKeesport, PA on July 29, 1939 and had a big and glorious life. If you knew Sib, you were inspired by her, and she was motivated by you. You quickly came to know that she was creative, smart, tough, artistic, ambitious, athletic, and beautiful. She was always teaching and always leading. She was a person that left more than a mark on your soul.

For most of her life she lived in Pennsylvania. Born in McKeesport, PA; growing up in White Oak, PA with her parents, Jeff and Marguerite and her brother Roy Weiskircher; then raising her family in North Huntingdon, PA.

Sib graduated from Grove City College in 1961 where she met her husband, Charlie Hamilton. Together they raised their children, Jeff; Jane; and Linda. Sib was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, builder, artist, tennis player, and a coach. Prior to having children, she was a teacher at McKeesport High School. She taught Sunday School with her mother-in-law, Helen Hamilton, and extended that special journey employing “Gram” at Hamilton-Fields Landscaping. It was during this long career in landscaping that Sib flourished as an artist, teacher, and leader.

After losing her husband to cancer and retiring from a career and life that she loved, her youngest daughter Linda invited her to live out her final years in the south. Sib continued to uniquely touch the lives of more, who love her only knowing her as a woman with Alzheimer’s.

Sib’s legacy and love of life will continue through her children, Jeff Hamilton; Jane Hamilton; Linda (Hamilton) Gilliam; in addition to family left behind; a brother-in-law George Hamilton; two sisters-in-laws, Christie Hamilton; and Bonnie Weiskircher; a son-in-law, Mike Gilliam; a daughter-in-law, Betty Hamilton; four nieces and their families; two nephews and their families; nine grandchildren, and three (with one on the way) great-grandchildren.

Sib will be greatly missed and will always remain an inspiration.

Our family wishes to thank Long Leaf Hospice in Georgia and her Team of Caregivers that were a precious part of her journey.
