William Snyder Funeral Home

Obituaries | The Tube City Almanac | May 28, 2024

Penelope S. Morgan, 79, of North Huntingdon passed away May 25, 2024, peacefully in her home having been surrounded by her family and loved ones in the days before her passing. She was born March 13, 1945, in McKeesport to the late Alfred and Frances Sayers.

She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 55 years Gerald T. Morgan. An everlasting love from the moment they first met. Her three wonderful and loving sons, Lee, Brett (Katie) and Tate (Julie), though it did take her a broken wooden kitchen spoon or two to make them wonderful. Her loving grandchildren, Emery, Lily, Isabella, Leyton, Asher and Meredith as well as many loving In-laws, nieces and nephews. Her sister, Pamela (Chuck) Cottle of White Oak, Pa and her brother Paul (Janice) Sayers of Grand Forks, ND.

She spent most of her working career in bookkeeping and administrative work with the Westinghouse Corporation, Earth Sciences of Murrysville and the First Presbyterian Church of Irwin. However, her real passion and love in her life came from being a mother and wife. This included being a homeroom mother for many years, a den mother in Cub Scouts for her boys, a teacher’s aide at Stewartsville Elementary, teaching Sunday school at Holy Trinty Lutheran Church in Irwin, along with being on Church Council and singing in the choir, being an active member of the Norwin Art League. Her creative talents knew no bounds, from painting, baking, sewing, gardening, quilting (with her mother, sister, aunt and other family) and anything she simply decided to take up and put her mind to.

She fought a 17-year battle with Alzheimer’s with courage and grace with her devoted husband at her side the entire way of her journey. In lieu of flowers her family would encourage you to donate to the Alzheimer’s Association in her name. The family would also like to thank Family Hospice of UPMC for the care they provided her over her last days with us. A special thank you to her nurses, Jennifer and Melanie. Per her request there will be no visitation, however, a memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at a later date. If she were able to, she would say this to all of you who have known and loved her; Do not mourn for me but cherish and remember the time we spent together.
