David Walter Manns, age 74, of White Oak, PA, died peacefully and unexpectedly on Saturday, November 9, 2024. He was born in McKeesport, PA on July 5, 1950 and was the son of the late Walter E. “Knute” Manns and the late June Parker Manns (Calvin) Weissert and his late stepmother, Eleanor Nyegre Manns.
David was an Eagle Scout and a 1968 graduate of South Allegheny High School. He was very proud to follow his grandfather and father into the family business, Manns Drug Store and Home Medical Products, as a third generation. He loved the Beatles and making his own music. In his younger days, he loved being a part of local rock bands including “Potlatch Forest” and “The Knives”. For many years, he had the privilege of being the master of ceremonies at the McKeesport Summer Concert Series at the Renziehausen Park Band Shell, where he could enjoy his love of live local music with others. He was a dedicated blood donor his entire adult life and attended First Evangelical Free Church in McKeesport, PA.
He is survived by his children, Nikole (Terry) Price of North Huntingdon, PA; Brandon (Jessica) Manns of North Huntingdon, PA; and grandsons, Jonathan David Manns; Andrew Lee Price; and Jackson Matthew Manns.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his partner and best friend, Beverlee Lynne Wester Barna; and brother, Bruce Weissert.
Family and friends will gather on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, Inc., 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177). Services will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at McKeesport and Versailles Cemetery.
