Obituaries | The Tube City Almanac | March 10, 2025

Robert "Bob" V. McClelland, 99, of Irwin, PA, formerly of McKeesport, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, March 1, 2025. He was born on January 25, 1926, in Glassport, PA.
Bob proudly served in World War II as a Merchant Marine in the Atlantic and Mediterranean War Zones and later spent several years in the Naval Reserve. After his service, he worked for the B&O and McKeesport Connecting Railroads, where he was affectionately known as "RV" by his colleagues.
After retiring, Bob enjoyed an active life playing "Old Timers" basketball and softball in his hometown of Glassport, PA. He spent several years living in Clearwater/Trinity, FL from 2013-2020, which brought him great joy. Even after moving to Florida, Bob loved staying connected with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren through text messages and Facebook when distance kept them apart. His greatest joy, however, was spending time with his beloved great-grandkids. He also cherished being outdoors.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Belinda (Ingel) McClelland; his brothers Julius, John, and James McClelland; and his parents, Viola (Cappel) and James McClelland.
Bob is survived by his children: Vincent J. (Katie) McClelland of Shenandoah, WV, and Geraldine "Jerrie" Downes of Irwin, PA as well as his daughter-in-law, Sandra McClelland of Baldwin, PA. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Shanna (Jim) Cook, Lisa (Mike) Weigand, Mary (Kris) McClelland Schramm, Cody (Leah) Downes, Tim (Jess) McClelland, and Pat (Christina) McClelland; and great-grandchildren: Keenan, Luther, Julia, Gavin, Waylon, Adam, Mila, and Cameron.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Bob's dear aide-in-attendance, Veronica, for helping to care for him for the last year, as well as the Commonwealth Hospice team (especially Liz, Christy, Jim, & Kate) for the compassionate care they provided during his final days.
At Bob's request, there will be no public services. A private burial will be held for the immediate family. Arrangements were entrusted to Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.jaycox-jaworskifh.com.
